"The rooms were excellent, and the king-sized beds are superb. We were very early, but the rooms were ready and the gentleman at reception checked the availability of the rooms, and as they were ready, he allowed us to access them - a rare treat. Breakfast was delicious and copious. The only 2 minor issues are the lifts, which need multiple presses of the buttons at times and the coffee in the bar was disappointing. No expresso cups, and no decaffeinated option other than powdered DIY sachets."

"Beautiful place but our mattress was so hard, I lost sleep! There was a point where I considered sleeping on the floor, as I thought it might be more comfortable, and my partner developed back and hip pain. The staff was lovely, everyone was so friendly and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. About a 20 minute walk from city centre, the location was also great! Apart from the mattress, I would definitely recommend to stay here. "

"2rd stay at this hotel. Refused upgrade said not available. Had to argue for a 1 1/2 hour late checkout we did get a one hour late( why not give the extra 1/2 hour we asked for. No free parking mentioned. We never ate at this hotel too expensive. The bar is small and difficult to find a seat except spillover in hall. Bar staff were very nice but to busy to talk and drinks were crazy expensive. The bathroom sink only produced scalding hot water or cold.😡 For a five star we expected better...

"We stayed in York at the Indigo for two nights, the room was clean and spacious, staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Parking was easy to access and nearby. Location wise the hotel is very close to everything albeit in a town where everything is within an easy 10-15 minute walk max."

"A gem of a hotel for meeting up with friends. A short walk from the railway station and a great position for York centre -a perfect position for our needs! Super friendly staff, lovely room, cosy areas to sit in the bar and delicious food in the restaurant. We shall return!"

"Hotel was clean, unfortunately our room was located by the cleaners room so it was pretty noisy early on also lots of noise from other guests early in the morning. We were also located right above the bar/restaurant so from around 6am we could hear noise from there. Staff were friendly at reception and rooms were comfortable"

"Perfectly situated for a walk around York! Our room was clean, comfortable and bright. Breakfast was fresh with a wide selection of options available while other restaurant meals served well after a day of activity. Staff were friendly and happy to help with our enquiries. "On arrival the staff were very helpful however when after being given our room we were appalled at the condition, especially the bathroom. The furniture was old and dated, the mattress and pillows hard, but it was the bathroom that dismayed us the most. There was black mold on the ceiling and extractor fan, the floor was uneven due to the lino was separating from the wooden floor. The taps on the sink needed replacing and the shower controls didn't work. To sum up the bathroom wanted gutting....

"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "
