Hotel Riu Palace Costa Rica - All Inclusive

"I expected more for what we paid to stay one weekend at this resort. The positives are that the staff was very friendly, kind and helpful, the food was also good, not too much variety but good tasting food and good presentation. The grounds are nicely kept and very beautiful, we also enjoyed the beach a great deal. The negative is that the hotel itself seems outdated, especially the rooms, in the three days that we stayed, we saw three ginormous roaches, one of them walking all over our table at lunch and two in the room. That for me is unacceptable and points to the lack of cleanliness that was actually visible in the hotel (especially in the room) the water park was nice but also needs a touch up. One of the biggest negatives for us was also the watered drown drinks, no matter what you asked for, or which type of liquor, you could never taste the alcohol in any of the drinks, it got to the point where we wouldn’t even get any drinks because we were just throwing them away. Another thing and I am aware this is not under the hotel’s control but just a heads up for anyone booking this, there are a million bees everywhere, they are constantly surrounding you, granted they don’t sting (for the most part) both my daughter and husband were stung once. Another reason why it’s hard to finish a drink, they will literally fly into your cup."

"This resort in steps from the beach. The spa was amazing. Josh and Anna gave us one the best massages ever! I love that there a shuttle that takes you around the resort. The food options are limited but very tasty."

"The main benefit of this hotel was its location. It's conveniently located only within 30 min drive from the airport, also just in between 2 main attractions - beaches and volcano. Should also mention that complimentary breakfast was spot on, and of course we daily enjoyed the pool. So overall great experience although the hotel is way outdated and needs a lot of renovations."

"Nice place located 5-10 min walk to the beach. Apartment was spacious with plenty of kitchen appliances, plates, glasses etc. Pool was very large for such a small hotel and was cleaned during our short stay. A little dated, but clean and in good condition. Location and value make this a great place for families to stay."

"Planned this vacation for our honeymoon and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They always made sure we comfortable and accommodated properly without us having to ask, especially Shay. The environment was beautiful and so many amazing views, we were immersed in so much nature and enjoyed experiences such a tropical vibe. We had a massage to end the trip and it felt amazing and was very reasonable priced. The excursions we did were amazing as we were able to experience more of the beauty of Costa Rica. First international location I've been to that I plan to visit again. We've decided to come back for our 10 year anniversary."

"This resort was a pleasant surprise. My husband selected the hotel & I was not excited about having one restaurant on the property. All I can say is WOW!! The menu changed every evening (Italian, Caribbean, Mexican) , the protein was prepared fresh upon request. Typically you had the choice of beef, chicken, fresh fish or pork. The breakfast had an omelet chef, fantastic fruit/pastries & AMAZING coffee. The hotel was a small boutique hotel. The pools were well maintained, staff was constantly asking if there was anything they could do, making sure the grounds were spotless. The concierge arranged a private fishing charter that picked us up right on the beach in front of the resort. The beach was soft sand & waters calm enough to hang out in. We'd definitely come back."
