"We were looking for a clean place to stay while venturing out to explore the Guanacaste region including several national parks and many beaches, so this met our needs. The room was clean, air conditioned and had a kitchenette which was a pleasant surprise. If we were looking an all-inclusive resort type of stay, it would have been a colossal failure. The food was cafeteria style, limited and not very good. The one bar that was open didn't have much to offer. The pools were nice, but otherwise there wasn't much to do. There wasn't any entertainment or activities. If you are like us and are looking for a clean place to sleep that is cost efficient this is your place. If you want a resort experience, this is not the place for you."

"The food at the restaurants was not very good for such a well kept property"

"The pools were clean, staff was great. The property needs lots of updates. Only had one working elevator. The door to the room was getting stuck opening and closing. The ceiling fan was making a terrible noise when turned on. Room was hot without the use of fan. The toilet room smelled of urine not sure if the seal around toilet needed to be redone. "

"The resort was over all nice only issue we had was the day we needed to leave to the airport to depart the transportation to bring us down took an hour to come get us and almost made us late for our flight. The resort is up a hill and no walking is permitted for safety. So you are forced to wait. We called the office several times to get picked up and the phone would just ring and then they would answer and tell us to wait outside so we waited outside of our room for one hour before being picked up. Also, the room stated with the stay you only get two complementary bottles of water and one coffee you have to pay for the rest but other than that, it was a pretty decent day and the resort itself was very nice and close to the beach just keep in mind that you have to wait to go around the resort."

"From the start of our stay the staff was incredible, from offering up travel tips and explaining all that the hotel has to offer. Emmanuel at reception went the extra mile to make our stay unforgettable. The property is beautiful and the animals of Costa Rica are your neighbors. We saw spider monkeys among the mango trees on the property, and heard the howlers as well as the many bird species all across the resort. The views from our bay view room were incredible, offering beautiful sunsets and a snapshot of the whole bay. Occidental offered an amazing stay for our first trip to Costa Rica!"

"Staff were very helpful and property/gardens/beaches were extremely well maintained. The restaurants were excellent with a wide range to choose from. Our excursions were on point with amazing guides. I would definitely recommend this RIU Resort to everyone (family, friends etc)."
