"It was a fine hotel for the night, right above the train station and next to the historic city centre. Room was clean. The blinds in our room were broken and not functioning properly so they didn't really work to keep the light out during the long summer nights. We didn't have breakfast or use any amenities."

A place called Do Belo was our favourite and within 5 minutes walk. Staff were brilliant, but the check in process was a bit complicated as we arrived after 8pm. We had to go to the sister hotel to pick up our room keys before going to the hotel itself. "For this type of hotel/category, there's a number of things that need improving: 1) Check-in: firstly, the hotel charges a €50-75 charge for an early check-in. This seems excessive and out in line with hotels in far more cosmopolitan cities. It's a small hotel, so room turnover etc should be more manageable. Secondly, the check-in desk is too small and ill-positioned so that when you do everyone have suddenly checking in at once, it forms a line with people not really having anywhere to...
