"The pool area is not well kept or clean. Breakfast included, but same food was offered everyday over 4 days of the stay, so we ended up grabbing breakfast out. Not convenient to downtown Charleston or the beaches if you are looking to go there."

"Great location for traveling with young children. The pool was great for relaxing with our 3 year old and having drinks delivered pool side from the bar. The room was nicely sized and comfortable. However, we had 3 wasps/hornet nests and had to ask several times for all of them to get taken care of. When someone did come to assist they just sprayed them and did not remove the nests. "The Shem Creek Inn was a good home base for us in Charleston. The hotel pool was great. The location overlooking the river was really fun for people watching! Hotel parking is really convenient. Walkable to several restaurants right on the water and a quick drive to other restaurants on Sullivan's Island. The hotel breakfast is ok. Not great, but easy. Fridge and microwave in the room were really helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we're back in the area."

"The Loutrel was one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at. It’s “welcome cocktail,” free breakfast and “finest hour” included delicious food and drinks! The hotel room was spotless and decorated beautifully. The staff was attentive and friendly."

"Don’t understand all of the glowing reviews. Room was tiny, bathroom walls had white stains all over and toilet paper stuck to them, shower floor was level with the rest of the bathroom floor so the water just flowed across the whole bathroom, which was very unsafe. Neighborhood didn’t feel very safe. Really glad this was just a quick stay for us."

"The breakfast and service was very good! Our room needed a clothing hook repaired and the walk in shower floor was cracked. Other than those things needing some maintenance attention, everything else was just fine. It was a very convenient location for us. I would stay again."
