Lovely small hotel where the rooms are amazingly huge. Staff are friendly and helpful. Take time to look round Colombo as it’s a great city and very safe. Good food for breakfast. Would recommend.

L'hôtel est un peu excentré du centre-ville. La chambre est d'une bonne superficie et la décoration est soignée. Le personnel est souriant et agréable. La chambre est bien équipée: fer et table à repasser, grande tv avec Apple TV et Netflix (us), connexion internet stable et performante.

A hidden gem

The Villa Raha is a huge 3-storey family villa converted into a B&B. The family does not actually live on site but staff are on hand 24 hours. What distinguishes this from other small guest-houses? It is located in a quiet side-street off a main road (Duplication Rd and the parallel Galle Rd that leads direct to the 5-star hotel area - a 10 minute ride by tuk-tuk/taxi). Convenient to town, it has about 6 to 8 rooms. It is newly renovated with an eye on exquisite and tasteful interior design and artwork throughout. The rooms are simply huge, with a lounge, a writing desk and excellent wifi, in addition to Apple TV, lots of channels, huge screen, etc. Huge bed, fresh linen. The bathroom is very spacious with quality shower-fittings and lots of hot water. The breakfast area is delightful (especially the huge banyan tree that is growing in the middle of it!). Amazingly there is also a swimming pool to cool off! Best of all is the very helpful and friendly youthful owner and his staff. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed. Would stay there again.
