The bathroom smelt like something had died inside. We found maggots on the floor. MAGGOTS. The sheets were dirty and so was the towel.

My room was mosquito infested and the toilet smelled terrible. After an administrative mix-up I was called out of bed at 23.45pm to show my passport as they had no record of me checking in despite me explaining that I had a separate reservation for my second night.

Very average, but I guess you get what you pay for. Beds not comfortable, air con is good, very loud location from outside activity, staff conned is on cab to airport to call a cab. Rather than just order a cab insisted we pay the hotel 4500 rupee. Going rate is about 2700. Cab driver asked us what we paid the hotel then got ticked off that he was only getting 2700 of the 4500. Tried to take us on the old non toll slow road rather than the new highway. I said no way dude I paid a premium onto the highway you go! Hotel staff ripp you off

Arrived in the afternoon first impressions were poor had to haul our bags up the stairs. The lobby was tatty and dirty and the staff were indifferent. No welcome no information given as to breakfast and wi fi details. In short we checked out 30 minutes later and went to the Renuka City Hotel. Staff didn't seem suprised we were leaving.

Great hotel for the area, the hotel is right next to The Old Dutch Hospital which is the best area in Colombo for bars and restaurants. The hotel is pretty decent and clean with a great roof bar, but the only downside is that it's all a bit dated and in need of a refurb. But we would definitely choose this hotel again

We picked this, despite the mixed reviews as we wanted to be certain of a window and to be close to the station and to have a restaurant on site. We were not made to feel welcome on arrival, the man on reception barely addressed us. The room was ok and we were front facing with balcony doors. The porter was friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a reasonable menu but little choice for vegetarians. The vegetable noodle dish had just a few shreds of veg in it. Breakfast was awful. One of us ate nothing at all, the other, just a little potato and tomato. The issue was around hygiene. Except for the “ hot “ dishes which were barely warm nothing else was covered. The bread was spread out, the dish of jam attracted flies, no where near an acceptable standard. WiFi non-existent. We would not stay here again.

Good location, just staying one night for transit to airport. Basic room, bit over priced for the room environment. Flies in the room which i have no idea where they coming in from and were gone after a while. Assuming they actually have a nest in the room (? They helped us arrange taxi arrange to the airport for 4000 rupees. Just a really basic room with working tv channels.

Hotel Colombo is a hotbed of criminal activity.
Criminal activity allowed to occur outside the hotel. Plenty of con men are outside the hotel and the management does little to protect its customers from these known hustlers and criminals. Even the TGIFridays next to the hotel has several armed security guards monitoring its common areas and preventing the criminals from harassing it's customers.

Colombo City Hotels
Excellent value for money, many of the hotels in the same location are much more expensive. Well equipped, comfortable, quiet room with good ac and fan. Varied and tasty breakfast buffet. Lovely roof terrace for an evening drink. Excellent location, opposite the twin towers. Dinner was not so good but we only ordered salads, I expect the mains are better. Overall a great place to stay.

Nice Hotel, Nice Stay
Good location. Hotel is near Jaffna Railway station. It is very convenient! Though there is few restaurant and cafe around the station, hotel restaurant is very good and not expensive. Considering the price, I would like to recommend this hotel. Do not forget swimwear !

The conditions of the hotel
I would not recommend this hotel because of cleanliness and conditions of the hotel. The building inside needs more love and care. It is reality that in the hotel industry you get for what you pay, specially in a therdworld countries.

Convenient hotel close to Fort Station
The WiFi wasn't working. My mum arrived early, and had breakfast the day we checked in, she said it really wasn't very great. They billed us 1000 rs for it - very overpriced. The hotel is very close to Fort Station though, which was nice since we had to catch an early morning train the next day.

Hotel is OK. location is good, close to Galle Green Face, train/ Bus station and historic buildings. reception is too small and half of the staff don't speak English. Also I had a booking with Hotels.com that I would pay 77 dollars a night including taxes and I end up paying 113. Asked for explanation but neither the hotel nor the website know anything. Room is good, clean, safe and good aircon.

Perfect location. Comfortable hotel
Right in the centre of fort, you couldnt ask for a better location. Its a 10 minute walk to fort train station and Pettah markets. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. There are lots of good restaurant options within 5 minutes walk. I would highly recommend this place.

We had booked 2 nights and they had overbooked. Prior to our arrival they had made arrangements to put us up first night at the Stuart around the corner, a 4 star with huge suite and good breakfast. No issues.

Got a room without any window, a bit of smell, not very comfortable with the bed & bedsheet. Location was fantastic but this hotel is a waste of this premium location with lousy service, lousy room.

Colonial convenience
The hotel offers much which other budget hotels in CMB cannot - the colonial heart of the city, Fort railway station and the vibrant (genuine) Pettah market and the Galle Face Green seaside are only minutes walk away. My room was compact but fully equipped but not the sort of place you would want to spend too much time in. The 5th floor restaurant and bar, part inside, part outside, is a pleasant enough place for a meal and drink and has an angled view of the sea. The Galadari and Kingsbury hotels are only minutes walk away if you wish to upgrade your evening entertainment and dining (at 5* prices!)

Average hotel good for a couple of days stay.
Was here on business travel. The hotel is close to the port and near to shopping centers and beach. Don't take a room facing the road if you intend to wake up late in the morning. Noise from traffic, people and a Buddhist monastery starts as early as 5.00 AM. I was in room number 304 which was facing the Hilton hotel and the city center.

Great stay
Only stayed for one night. Great service, across from trade center and down the street from the boardwalk. They upgraded us to balcony view... Great for people watching!
