Really friendly staff throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel is warm, cosy and comfortable with great parking facilities and is convenient for the shops in the town centre.
Breakfast was of a very high standard, plenty to eat and delicious.
We also booked an evening meal which was the highlight of our stay - we thoroughly recommend the dining experience.
Many thanks to Cain, who looked after us in the bar and all the staff who were all very hard working, but extremely pleasant throughout.
Wishing all at the Manor House a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to staying with you again in 2024.
Excellent, no issues at all. Friendly staff, fantastic breakfast, parking, great location only feedback would be room 8 ? Add a shower rayher than a mixer. But I would recommend.
Thought we would have a single family room at the hotel, turned out to be a great 2 bedroom cottage just around the corner from the hotel, was totally stunned when we arrived.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice welcoming hotel. Only had drinks and food in the lounge but both were great. We were in room 14 on the 2nd floor. Knew it was a small room and just a skylight instead of window, which was ok. The decorating could do with a touch up as some of the paper was peeling. Was very warm but they had a large oscillating fan which helped. For 2 nights it was all acceptable. Location and parking were our main reason for booking and these were perfect.

Lovely old house with history
Although all the amenities were there the room was very small, sidling between bed and dressing table chair. Probably better without the chair as you could just sit on the bed to use mirror. Bathrooms are dated. Good quality breakfast but asking to choose what you want on arrival and then getting the same each morning doesn't really allow for variety. Felt a bit like an old fashioned B&B in that respect. Despite that we had a good stay and staff were lovely.
The accommodation was very comfortable everything you needed. Staff were very friendly the food was excellent and good value for the money. Would certainly stay again and would recommend to family and friends.

Good location, nice friendly staff, really nice breakfast the place just needs an update. Rooms are a bit tired and dated.
It's a handy, central hotel, close to the centre of Cockermouth. The rooms are a little tired but the public areas are pleasant and clean. The breakfasts are really good, homemade jam and marmalade with cooked breakfasts cooked to order and good quality ingredients, bacon, sausages, black pudding.
It was unfortunate that the chef was on holiday as I would have dined there, but at breakfast I found the chairs very uncomfortable. Staying in room 10 I found the climb challenging, and being over 6ft.was continually bumping my head.If another vist is made I would try to ensure that my room was not on the second floor.
Lovely stay at the Manor House. Friendly, warm welcome. Good bar and restaurant. Everywhere spotlessly clean and comfortable. Fantastic location right in the centre of town. Look forward to visiting again soon
Very comfortable stay. Lovely hosts. Within walking distance to everything in town. Great stay.

Good location but needs a bit of tlc in the rooms
I guess you get what you pay for. I wanted somewhere near the lakes but without the price tag so this place fitted the bill. Definitely not great if you have mobility issues as most of the rooms appear to be up either one or like mine two flights of fairly steep stairs. My room was in the eaves which wasn’t too much of problem as I’m only 5”2 but showering was a bit of challenging and without a shower curtain became rather more of a wet room.
The skylight was covered in cobwebs and the whole room just had a very tired feeling with dark wood furniture and stained towels. But as far as a good location for exploring nearby then it was ok.
Front of house staff were the saving grace.
