Nice size room and bed/bedding. Very noisy property (probably due to age), woke a few times during the night. The shower was pathetic and not really usable. Breakfast served from 0900 on a weekday makes this property unsuitable for business stays. Car park in poor state with fencing fallen down, making it unaccessible. Staff were friendly and provided muesli and yoghurt in place of missed breakfast.
Ridiculously overpriced for a dull and poorly managed property.
The room was fine, which redeemed the situation. Noise from bar below until late. Low ceilings and steep narrow stairs to get to the room.
No breakfast served until 9.00 am although we had to be away from the place by 7.00am. Still charged with no offer of compensation.
Would not stay again and suggest others do the same.
Room was fabulous. Obviously recently renovated. Spotlessly clean too with everything to a very high standard. Bed very comfortable. Could not fault this place. And meals were excellent too especially the steak and ale pie. Breakfast porridge was outstanding. Only minor issue is that breakfast only starts at 9 am. A little late for us. But that’s just a minor issue for this brilliant hotel.
We only stayed for one night, in the dog-friendly bedroom. We were very comfortable and enjoyed a very nice dinner in the bar. Breakfast was terrific.
Our dog was very happy too.
Would definitely stay again when in the area
The staff were very friendly and professional. The building is old and full of character including uneven floors! We stayed in the William Gull room which was lovely but the drains were a little smelly and there were stains on the carpet but the room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was lovely!
For anyone who loves history like myself, choosing to stay at an old English Inn never disappoints. The Bell served up a very tasty Sunday roast dinner. I stayed in William Gull’s room which is full of character. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I loved every minute.
Hotel was fantastic, really clean, modern interior despite being a few hundred years old. Staff were great, really friendly. Room was really quiet even on the Saturday night. Definitely stay again.
The service really is the very best. Nice pub on one side with restaurant on the other. Three guest rooms upstairs. Room was modern and fresh whilst the building is old and characterful. Food in the evening was good and breakfast very good.
Extremely clean
Staff : brilliant, friendly, very helpful
Delicious breakfast - American pancakes - yummy, perfectly cooked scrambled eggs too - wonderful
Tweaks in the bedroom: comfortable chair /s, bedside light both sides of bed. Suggested these tweaks before we left, but absolutely recommend The Bell Inn and will stay again
The Bell Inn is a lovely pub hotel. The rooms are modern but comfortable.
There is an on-site restaurant which provides great food. I’m vegan and there were some good options for me too. I choose the vegan risotto which was lovely.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I’ll be staying here again when next in the area.
Great room, great hospitality, great food. Even when we turned up with our dog that they weren't aware was coming (as my Hotels.com message with this in hadn't reached them), it was no problem at all. Smashing menu and the food didn't disappoint. Would definitely book again.
