But, our research persuaded us that a boutique hotel on the Island of Ortigia was more in line with our standards and preferences. The Algila Ortigia Charme Hotel both met and exceeded our expectations. Everything, including the Center of Siracusa was within walking distance. The morning breakfast was convenient and ample. "This is a small place that is in different levels. The rooms are at street level, and going down is a nice terrace, where a very tasty and fresh breakfast is served. There is also a jacuzzi, and going one more floor down you reach a beautiful swimming pool. Lisa and her mom are very nice hosts that offer suggestions as to activities around town, the hotel is situated within the historic center and close to the cathedral."

"This was a beautiful property with very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms had the perfect mix of old unique architecture and modern amenities. Loved the courtyard for some peace and quiet as well as a quick dip in the pool on a hot day. The breakfast was so good, fresh made pastries and eggs and cappuccino to order. We only stayed one night, but wish we could’ve stayed longer to explore more of the city."
