"Excellent Hotel with amazing staff, cannot fault them, but they do have an issue with meals for anyone outside of a large & planned group. If you don't mind simple food laden with cheese, then the Pool Bar is fine. If you want something before 8.30pm, then you have to go outside the Hotel. After 8.30pm, you can choose from the a la carte menu, which is exceptional. Anything in between, they cannot cater to you. Again, though, the staff is superb, first class. They will try to accommodate you."

"Set in a beautiful landscape in the countryside, high quality and tastefully furnished, perfect equipped apartments, and, most of all, incredible staff: Angela served delicious (highly individualized) breakfast in a beautiful breakfast room. Angela, Cissa, and Nicole (as well as everyone doing written communication) was incredibly friendly, competent, helpful, and all around delightful. I want to return soon. Pico do Refugio is also ideally located, right in the middle of the island, no matter what destination. The garden is beautiful, the pool super clean. One can't ask for more!"

We stayed in early April and the weather was beautiful but unpredictable (as usual in the Azores) and our room stayed a comfortable temperature the entire time without using the thermostat. The only change I'd make is more variety at breakfast and more opportunity to try the Azorean beef at dinner! "

"Absolutely one of the best accommodations we’ve ever had! The hosts are incredibly welcoming and friendly! They’re helpful and have great recommendations for everything you could want to do on the island. First off, the hotel was beautiful and a piece of art in itself. The room was spotless! They provided towels for the shower and darker towels for the thermal pools. The breakfast was delicious and a great start to every day. We will absolutely be staying with them again on our next stay! Thank you again!"
