What a cool hotel. The location was perfect - halfway between the shopping and the beach - and the atmosphere was really nice. The hotel is definitely older but in that intangible historic way. We had a small room for a quick weekend getaway and it was just perfect. It seems like they are slowly renovating throughout the hotel so I hope they don't strip away the character. The small winding hallways and the peculiar room layouts (including small closets and sinks in the bedrooms) all made the place that much more unique. I felt that I was on the set of an old movie.
The Magnolia Room is closed for the season but the King Edward Bar was really a hidden gem. The food was phenomenal (my wife is vegetarian and they had some good options) - he pimento cheese, cauliflower risotto, and roasted oysters were all excellent - but the kitchen closes early. We stopped by both nights and it looked dead but was absolutely PACKED for the late night crowd. What a fun hotel, I am definitely going to make this my base whenever I am staying in Cape May.
