Farmstay in Cantón Pococí

"⭐⭐⭐ We had a mix of really great moments and a few that were hard to overlook. The highlights first.. because there were many. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were so thankful for early check-in after a long travel day (16+ hours for me and nearly 20 for my daughter). The restaurant was delicious, and the breakfast buffet each morning was such a great start to our day. The grounds and pool area are beautiful and relaxing, and the free airport shuttle made everything super convenient. It was also easy to grab transportation into the city for a day trip, which we loved. That said, there were a few things that impacted our stay. There’s no elevator, so carrying luggage up was a bit tough after such long travel. The bigger issue, though, was mold in the bathroom. Staff did come up quickly and clean it off the ceiling, which we appreciated, but it had already started coming back by the next day. We stayed two nights, and in hindsight I probably should have asked to switch rooms. That first night, though, we were completely exhausted and my daughter was already half asleep.. I didn’t have it in me to repack everything or make a fuss. The staff was very apologetic, but I do feel like a room change or some kind of accommodation should have been offered without needing to ask. The property itself really is beautiful, and I’m sure many guests have a great experience here. Unfortunately, based on our stay, I wouldn’t return."

"Our flight landed at 11:00 a.m., but the hotel’s free shuttle would not pick us up until 1:00 p.m. due to check-in time. After being awake since 3:00 a.m. and with nowhere to go for two hours, we took an Uber to the hotel so we could eat and rest. The grounds are beautiful, and most of the staff were kind and professional. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill once we reached our room. We were told no upgrades were available despite our Expedia VIP status. The assigned room had a strong, unpleasant odor, old dingy carpet, and felt very dated. After a short nap, I woke up with a severe headache and nausea from the smell. When we reported the issue, we were initially told we would need to pay for an upgrade. Thankfully, the manager, Brandon, was understanding and moved us to a room on the premium floor. The smell was gone, but the room was still dated, with a noticeable dip in the mattress. Linens were clean, and the view was nice. Food at the hotel was disappointing overall, though breakfast was acceptable and the café con leche helped. The lobby felt plain and lacked the atmosphere expected from a hotel that markets itself as five-star. Evening piano music was a nice touch, and drinks were reasonably priced. Housekeeping was inconsistent. After returning from a full-day tour, our room had not been serviced except for removed towels, and housekeeping knocked late in the afternoon instead. "

"La atención en la recepción deja mucho que desear, poco dispuesta y nada amable. El aire de la habitación se dañó a las 2 a.m., al momento de reportarlo nos dijeron que el técnico llegaría después de las 9 a.m., eran las 12 del mediodía y aún seguíamos esperando que lo arreglaran. El desayuno con opciones bien limitadas. El olor del lugar súper desagradable. La ubicación no es buena, para llegar a cualquier lugar decente debes manejar por lo menos unos minutos 15/20 minutos. NO LO RECOMIENDO EN LO ABSOLUTO."
