"A pretty hotel tucked away in a small alley in the old quarter. Typically Chinese. Rock hard beds and not very good shower pressure. Breakfast is very cheap with very little choice. No tea or coffee. Reception is friendly but little to no English. We stayed 2 nights and found a cheaper and much better place just outside the wall for the rest of our stay. Think that for $50 a night you can find better options!"

"The hotel is set in an ancient dwelling built around a courtyard. While our room retained its original ancient nature, it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom, on the other hand, was modern and there was no lacking hot water. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a quiet side street in the middle of the ancient city just off of the major pedestrian street of Remin Road with its many eateries, shops and bars. "For the big amount of money we have paid for the stay we are very disappointed. Your hotel is not in good order and no maintenance is done since it was built. The jacuzzi didn’t work, the kids club is dirty and many things are broken. Mini golf not working, air condition in the room not working. No one spoke a word English despite this is supposed to be a 5 star international hotel. "

The road to the hotel is pedestrianised with cobble stones, but the hotel sent a member of staff with a flatbed trolley to collect our luggage from the taxi drop-off point to the hotel. The rooms are comfortable with good facilities and the little courtyard area is delightful."

"Such a lovely comfy hotel. Had the best stay here for a few days, the staff were so so lovely and helpful, writing things out in Chinese for us and being so helpful with any questions we had. The room is comfortable and clean and the courtyard is so beautiful. Just a 5 minute walk to the South Gate in the ancient city of Dali so the perfect location and all at such an amazing price! Highly recommend! "

However, we were not pleased that the electricity went out on the second night, leaving us in total dark and cold with no air conditioning, etc. The staff were not well trained to apologize in this situation but just remained silent.
