Very comfortable hotel with large rooms. Classic Balinese. The staff is outstanding. Very conveniently located in the heart of Lovina. I recommend it.

We loved everything about rambutan!! The location- so central to food, shopping, Lovina beach! Staff were lovely and the accommodation was spectacular! Plus pools, the spa and lovely outdoor areas. We will absolutely go back there next time in Bali!

Excellent breakfast served with a smile - short walk to the beach and very helpful staff - room was clean and had everything you need. The two pools were very clean and we enjoyed every day sitting there after the beach - many great warungs close by for dinner !! Thanks for a great stay

We stayed at the Rambutan Boutique Hotel for 9 nights , we stayed in a villa opposite the smaller of the two beautiful pools. The villa was lovely , the bed was very comfortable , with very nice quality bed linen . The bathroom was large and well appointed . We could not get over how beautiful the grounds were and the staff were always doing something in the gardens . Al the staff were very pleasant and helpful and always smiling and nothing was too much trouble . If we are lucky enough to go to Lovina again we would defiantly stay here again. Thank you for a lovely holiday .

Rambutan is in a great location. Staff are friendly and rooms are clean. For feedback to the managers - hand towels and tissues would be a great addition. Would stay here again.

Our second time staying here and again it did not disappoint. Rambutan is a graceful traditional Balinese hotel set in lush tropical gardens with comfortable accommodation, 2 beautiful pools, friendly smiling staff and restaurant serving great food. It is centrally located, close to Lovina beach, warungs, a traditional market, shops and atms. Hospitable hosts Richard & Tini live on site. Loved our stay here.

Thanks for pointing out things about our place. Hot water is on gas and sometimes the gas runs out. We do have a sign in the room about the gas but sorry about that. Glad you enjoyed our two pools and one hectare of tropical gardens in the centre of Lovina.

This is a decent hotel but I wouldn’t stay there again. The service was mediocre and in Bali you can get so much more for that amount of money. Not worth the price here, I think.

Beautiful grounds, very quiet, clean, balinese style. Great place to relax and enjoy nature sounds. Good location, close to the beach although most of our time was spend at the hotel pool as it was quieter and cleaner than the beach. Good restaurants around as well as supermarket and pharmacy. Good service. Internet not very strong in the room but you can manage. Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family. If you want quiet and relaxation this is your place. Very tired looking rooms, window in bathroom is fixed open, so you get the constant smell of fire smoke in the room. The location and complex though are very good Also did not appreciate being pesttered to take a taxi/ride inside the complex- what happened to privacy?

Regarding the windows, all our windows can be closed, so I think you did not look at it closely. Sorry about you being asked about if you wanted transport inside the complex. We do not allow this and will try and find out how this happened.

An older Bali resort, room was clean , interesting bathroom, fridge noisy ( we called it the snoring dinosaur) towels old and thin, airconditioner worked. The safe was at floor level which was a little hard to negotiate, you had to kneel down and use your phone torch to see the numbers. Pool was fine, staff sweet and friendly. We were disturbed to find construction work going on on our arrival and duri g the whole stay. No mention was made of this on booking. Discussion with manager regarding due to the noise, we objected to the increased request for more money. We were advised this was due to our booking through Expedia! And if we wanted a room in a different part of the resort away from the noise we had to pay. This we did eventually. A sour note to begin with

Lovely, vintage Balinese feeling and look to this resort, friendly staff, good service. The rooms were air conditioned and the main areas were open with ceiling fans. Plants, flowers, and Hindu temple sculptures all around. There was always an extra fan for us to use. Nice spa area with everything offered. Two refreshing pools with lounge chairs for all. Despite how old the hotel was, the facilities were really clean and well maintained, and the staff were experienced and friendly. Plus, the location had a lot of good food options around and only a 5 minute walk from the beachfront! Really convenient and in a good location.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rambutan Cottages. Our last visit had been 23 years ago and we were thrilled to see it is still owned and managed by Richard and Tini. There are now two pool areas surrounded by beautiful, tranquil gardens. We stayed in the Putri Villa for three nights and loved it so much we have already planned a return trip for next year. The bed is super comfy, the room has lots of windows looking out onto the garden, a light filled living area, a fabulous open air bathroom, plus a lovely verandah to relax on sipping tea as the afternoon rains fell on the garden. The staff are ever smiling, the pool is super clean and refreshing, and breakfast was always delicious. TerIma kasih Richard dan Tini... sampai jumpa tahun depan!!

Lovely older style hotel
The Rambutan is a lovely older style Balinese hotel with beautiful greenery and gardens. There are many types of accommodationist the hotel. We chose a 2 bedroom villa which was large and well furnished but very dark. Our villawas up the back and the paving could do with an upgrade to ensure it’s as safe as possible. Staff were very helpful, breakfasts fine from a choice of menu, parking on site. Wifi was a bit hit and miss. The location is great in central Lovina and close to everything. We would stay here again.

This place is magical! It’s like a paradise in the Bali forest. It’s quiet, serene and extremely comfortable. Our villa wa spacious and well appointed. The open air bathroom was a great feature! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The food was good as well. You can’t beat the value of this little paradise! I miss it already!

Wonderful outdoors, indoors needs upgrade
The grounds including the two swimming pools are amazing. Lots of nooks and crannies and seating areas. Also lots of different play areas if you have young kids. The cottages themselves are a bit tired and need updating. We really didn’t mind this except for the beds - and bedding which definitely needed upgrading. Breakfast was fairly substantial and pretty good for an inclusive deal - much better than most. And, as always in Bali, service was excellent

I love Rambutan!
I've been holidaying at Rambutan Cottages for thirty years. Every time I stay, I wish I could stay longer. I lose my stressed work life, my frustration with Bali's traffic jams, my connection to the outside world, and start to float away in the relaxed ambience of Rambutan's massages, pools, tropical gardens.

Centrally located to the beach, it is a short walk to many facilities.The rooms could do with a little updating and fresh linen provided. Somehow I missed the fact that there was not fridge, safe or TV. Neighbors next door were noisy but they may have been permanents. Breakfast was very nice and staff helpful. Overall I would probably not stay here again due to the fact that there was no fridge or safe.

Loved it!
My sister and I loved our stay here at the Rambutan Hotel! The staff and owners were so lovely! We felt so comfortable and welcomed. We went through them to do a snorkeling trip and to see the dolphins and they were so easy to deal with, plus good prices! Honestly, we wish we were to of stayed longer simply because we loved it there, the grounds are beautiful and so well maintained! Will recommend to anyone staying in Bali to 1. Visit Lovina and 2. They NEED to stay at this hotel. Thanks guys for the awesome hospitality :-)

Total dump, awful management.. i booked 3 rooms next to each other as my mother is partialy sighted,mine and hers were very far apart.. air con not working, toilet not working, uncomfortable stone bath.. building work everywhere, food so bad i couldnt eat a thing, worst hotel i have ever seen

When you book different types of rooms it is not possible to place you in the same area. Our procedure if a room has a problem like with an Air-conditioner is to offer you another room in the same category if available and if not we will upgrade to another room. Sorry for the problem of The AC and toilet and if my staff did not offer to move you or give you an upgrade then could you please contact me and let me know in more detail what happened.

Absolutely loved it! The dogs are my favorite!
We had such a lovely stay here (2 nights), wished we could've stayed longer! Will stay here again. Felt very traditional Balinese. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, staff friendly, pool very relaxing, spa (we had massages) was great, ping pong table was super fun. It feels like a family place, really loved the dogs around the property especially the black puppy! The dogs are super chilled and friendly. I wish more hotels had animals around for that homely atmosphere. You will feel like you're on vacation right away.

Loved staying at Rambutan. Quiet, lovely gardens & pool and great obliging staff. Only a few minutes walk to the beach which is Bali of Old. Wish we had found the Lovina area years ago. Snorkelling was great also. Perfect for a complete relax and wind down. Will be back.

Old style Balinese luxury
This is a lovely hotel set in spacious, luxurious grounds. The buildings & rooms are reminiscent of Bali 40 years ago - lots of artwork & gracious architecture. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as the huge gardens provide peace & quiet away from the road. If you want a laid back place to chill out, this is it. Unfortunately Lovina beach and the water are dirty & unappealing, but at the Rambutan you have 2 pools to choose from so you can cool off in comfort. Staff are very friendly & helpful.

Lovely, peaceful hideaway
Swift, friendly check in. Great choice for breakfast including the best mie goring we've had since we arrived. Lovely atmosphere and it was great just sitting on our terrace watching the birds, butterflies and a family of ducks! It is the low season so it felt as if we had our own villa with a private pool.

Relaxing stay
We stayed in 2 rooms at the Rambutan -the Tower room, and a suite in the garden. The tower room is very light, large and with it's own pavilion on the 3rd floor -so beautiful views of the hills behind the village. The access is untidy -and with lots of steps, and as it is high up the noise from the Volleyball match being played at the beachfront every night, and motorbike traffic was louder than expected. It is very private and away from other guests. The suite in the garden was very large and well appointed. The veranda faced the large pool, and the gardens are lovely. Staff were out every day doing the grounds, and the pool is cleaned every day. Breakfast is individually served in the restaurant, with ample choices, basic but well done, and presentation and service is good. The location is excellent -3 minutes walk to the beach, numerous small shops and plenty of restaurants at the doorstep.

An oasis at a superb price
Stay here; fabulous, relaxing oasis at a superb price. I was happy with my basic double room with a decent size bathroom (though shower heating control was a bit off), it'd be a bargain for two guests. Breakfast is basic, a small offering but it's enough, with unlimited tea, coffee and toast. Pool areas are great, I had one pool to myself for 3 days. The rooms are set in well kept, lush gardens and there's a great spa on site with treatments at low prices. I read one bad review for this place, which nearly put me off, I'm really glad it didn't. There are a few ducks pecking around which is nice, and a few dogs wandering (one of them does smell a bit so owners, please give it a bath), but none of them bothered me. Checkout is at breakfast time so take enough money to pay your final bill so you don't have to pop back to your room for cash. Overall, an excellent stay, very relaxing, I made use of the spa a couple of times (one hour oil massage was £12), was too relaxed to make use of the day trips / tours offered at reception. Hotel arranged my transport to Kuta, they only charged a very small fee but it you want to save £1 then feel free to book transport just down the road. The beach is 10 minutes easy walk away, I'm not a big fan of beaches, especially black ones, but I was more than happy at my pool. Head west for 3 mins on the main road to Home Maid of you fancy a pie or sausage roll. Very tasty. Enjoy!

A little slice of paradise
Great hotel, right in the centre of Kalibukbuk town but without any noise or lack of privacy. Short pleasant stroll to the beach and a huge choice of restaurants, bars (some with incredibly good music for night owls) and shops nearby in addition to the excellent ones in the hotel. Friendly, happy staff and beautifully kept and landscaped grounds. This is a laid back and very friendly part of the island and the hotel reflects this perfectly. Lovina is definitely not Kuta (but it is a lot like Kuta was 35 years ago - hopefully it will never go the same way!) and the hotel does not pretend to be a glitzy 5-star resort but it does deliver on comfort, friendliness and a beautiful relaxing atmosphere (with the occasional minor fault or hiccup that goes with that). Beach lovers might be a bit disappointed - this is the sheltered side of the island so there is no surf at all and the beach is of the gritty volcanic sand type but it is pretty (sunsets can be spectacular across the bay) and Lovina is just such a genuinely friendly and relaxed area. Some great places to visit nearby and nothing is at all expensive by western standards. We intend returning.
