Great location for transport and near NY Cafe. Loved the historic building and cute room, but a shame that 'courtyard' rooms overlook an unattractive roof addition, not really a courtyard. At first we had a room with a single window overlooking a shelf of gravel but manager kindly moved us to a slightly better room with a double window overlooking the roof. In the new room, beds were far too soft and sloping, and pillows far too large for comfort, which we didn't realize until bedtime and did not have the heart to ask for another move. In spite of the discomfort, i might choose M again (bringing my own pillow) for its unique character and especially because of the excellent attention from the manager who personally escorted us to our new room, discussed the history and architecture of the building, and was exceptionally kind and friendly. Also, kudos to housekeeping for a spotless room and friendly good morning greetings when we passed in the hall. That small gesture really helps guests feel welcome.

Beautiful old purpose-built hotel with just 80 rooms. If you like historic hotels, this is a decent choice. Initially we were put in an end room on the 3rd floor with a small window and ugly view. They graciously accommodated our room change request so we could have a slightly better view. Interior of both rooms were cozy and quiet. However, the twin beds (or the mattress toppers on the beds) sagged and were a bit uncomfortable. Also water pooled up in the shower. Everything else was great. Exceptionally convenient transportation and nice to be a block away from the famous NY Cafe.

Personally, it was probably the nicest hotel that I’ve ever stayed at. We were able to check in early for a small fee, which was ideal since we came from the US and we’re needing a rest. The included breakfast was fantastic. The staff was very polite and helpful. I ordered a taxi back to the airport on the second to last day and they had it there early for us. Great all around.

This is the 4th time I have stayed here. I love this hotel! Clean, great location with access to public transportation, wide-selection at breakfast buffet, and helpful staff...everything needed for a good stay.

This property felt really short to be considered as a 4 star hotel. The bed is not king or queen. It’s too twin beds put together. The shower/bathtub is super tiny, showering is not easy.

Breakfast was delicious. The hotel is very nice and modern, the rooms are a bit tired especially the bathrooms. The bed was really comfy. Try getting a room facing the courtyard rather than the street as it can get quite noisy with the tram and the busy road.

Excellent staff. Big room. Complimentary water every day. Location near all means of transportation. Fair breakfast. Welcome fresh fruit drink ever morning. Hard boiled eggs - upon request. No barrier along stairs - safety issue for aging people when the only lift is out of order. Bed - quite uncomfortable. Hotel needs to be refreshed.

Highly recomend this hotel. Its spotless comfortably. Well located in a great location. its good value for money, a proper 4 star. Not a fake one. Ive stayed here on lots of occasions, im really disappointed if its not availble. Easily my favorite hotel in Budapest. In this price range. Book it you wont be dissapointed.

This hotel in Budapest is very well located in the city, close to many bars & restaurants and has easy transport links nearby. The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms were very comfy, and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest!

I loved the location. The tram and bus lines that go around Budapest and connect with other lines in Budapest are just outside the hotel. There are many shopping venues, restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The building itself is in need of "freshening." It needs to update its lobby, the furniture, and the sheets in the rooms. However, the building was immaculately clean. The breakfast was wonderful with many choices and presented beautifully. The staff was excellent! It is worth staying in this hotel for the attention the staff gives its guests. The hotel must have been spectacular in its heyday. It is difficult to judge this hotel more than this. We were only two of only a few of the guests in the hotel because of the pandemic. Hotels in Budapest generally are suffering from a lack of tourism.

Wonderful property and service
I booked Hotel Nemzeti to be in the center of things in Budapest at the conclusion of our river cruise. My wife and I were incredibly pleased with the hotel. First, we arrived early around 10am and they were able to put us into our room early. The property is beautiufully restored with lots of character. Our room had 10-12 foot ceiling and was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a trolley stop right outside the front door and you can walk to numerous sites from here also. I will definitely go back to the wonderful Hotel Nemzeti.

The staff tried to be nice, although it would have been better if they could also smile! They behaved as if "they were following orders, or regulations". At some point when the heating of the bathroom was noy working, they tried to explain that the heating is turned-on only at certain times, but then they fixed it. They were polite but without warmth!

Great Hotel, Great Staff and Great Location
Really enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. The reception staff were great, always smiling. And they recommended restaurants which serve good vegetarian food for my wife. They always helped everytime we asked for anything. The only issue we had was that the room next door to us were drunk and very loud (not the fault of the hotel). We spoke to the reception and they changed our room, although is was a twin room as thats all that was available. But we agreed as we wanted to sleep, and they changed our room and dropped off a bottle of red wine for the inconvenience due to other guests. The Metro is literally on its doorstep and very easy to find.

I really enjoyed Hotel Nemzeti. Great location - down the street from the train station, near many other metros and easy to get to all the other areas I was touring. The property was beautiful and excellently maintained. Looked just the pictures, which is not usually the case. The room was on the small side, but very clean so I don't mind. The only thing I would mention is the building was quite warm and stuffy. Needs some better air flow. Otherwise was great!! Would love to come back and stay at Hotel Nemzeti!!
