the first staff was mean but later on, the other staff who came later were the nicest people. The man was mean and trust I always give people chances. He lacked manners and discipline.

Employees were nice but the old fellow I assume was the owner was extremely rude and curt for no reason. Showers open directly into the hallway with no curtain (!?!), bedroom door handle fell off several times, sink in room was ready to fall off sink, towels cost €3 each. At 70 euro a night I did not expect much, but this was pretty horrendous, and I am used to staying in bad motels.

I stayed in a private room with my sister. Pros: I felt safe. It was exactly like the pictures, staff was always around & very pleasant The shower always had warm water even when there was a line. Having a sink in your room was great! The sheets, shower & room were all clean. I saw people cleaning the bathroom daily Area was pretty good; laundry mat, grocery store & 3 transit stops all within 4 minutes & plenty of restaurant and liquor stores too Cons: pretty much all major tourist stuff was about 20 minutes on transit & there wasn't a ticket machine nearby Hallways were pretty beat up: cracks in the plaster, watermarks, parts of the ceiling missing Check in was at 2pm, we got there at 2:15 and our room wasn't ready till 3:15 Luggage storage was just a stack of bags between the vending machine & desk. Not even behind the desk Wifi worked great down stairs, but less and less well going up Be aware: bath towel rental is €5 The shower is basically a closet where you step into what would be a shower stall, except there is no curtain or second door. There's no stand for the shower head, floor was always wet, & you'd have to hang anything you want dry on a hook & turn off the shower to wash your hair. I've had worse showers on this trip, but yeah. Pretty basic. Definitely not a "youth" hostel, because there were lots of old men No fridge in the kitchen

Avoid at all costs. Extremely dirty, open door/unsafe, rude staff, located in a wet basement. Older crowd, felt a bit like a homeless shelter. Nothing youth about this youth shelter. I stayed once and lost my money on the rest of my trip (I paid up front for four nights). It was that bad

Reception staff friendly and to given advice. Included breakfast was very basic for what you pay for your stay. Location close to red lighy district but never felt unsafe. Easy to walk to from centraal station.

Not quite as expected
Hostel definitely needs some investments, room was dark and bed was squeaky. Check-in was pretty straight-forward and the girl at the reception was very helpful and friendly. Hostel is in old part of Brussels, rather far from the centre (had to take a metro and tram to get there).

a place to sleep with not much else to recommend.
the hostel was ok for a place to crash, but security and shower facilities left a lot to be desired. not to mention that reception didn't open until the afternoon. the security was minimal at best, the door is almost always open and i didn't get a key to my room for thew first two nights so my dorm room was also unlocked and accessible. the showers were ok, water leaked everywhere no matter how well the curtains were closed, and there always seemed to be a sopping wet towel on the floor. check out was also interesting as basically you stuck your key through a hole in the door, again wasn't the most secure or tidy place. you get what you pay for thought.

budget place, so no choice
We booked a two-people room. The bed stair is broken, it can't go to upper deck bed. I tried to ask the staff how to go the upper bed. He said I can jump to the upper deck with the front handle of the bed (It's impossible!!). He recommand another choice is I can sleep with my friend at the bottom single bed as the weather is very cold, then both of us will get more warm because they haven't any more same type of room. Then, another problem this hostel when I stay, there is no any kettle for hot water ,but you can use a pan to heat the water. Foremore, the staff are not at the hostel at the morning of sunday, you can't get any service before 12:00 at sunday, for example keep your luagge at the hostel.

This was the cheapest hostel in the Brussels area, so I guess you get what you pay for. The staff was first rate. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, but the plumbing, electricity and overall aesthetics of the place need improvement. I didn't take a shower because it smelled like mildew.

Stayed for a night, didn't feel settled or comfortable at all. But just a night, so it was alright. Location pretty far. Bus 71 from the centre down south for about 15 minutes. Can get VERY crowded during peak hours. Hostel has a working and equipped kitchen, decent. Toilets are shared, and terribly small. Heating in the room is poor. Cleanliness is just (marginal) alright.

Stay away! Rude staff, nasty shower, cold room
When I first arrived and went to the front desk, the guy was very rude. During the whole conversation, he only said two or three words to me. When I got into the room, it was freezing cold. I then realized there was a door right beside my bed that was open! And we were on the second floor. If you went out the door, you'd fall two stories as there was nothing there; no steps or balcony. My experience in the room just gets worse from there. The shower smelled of mildew. When I went to bed, I shut the door beside my bed because it was COLD! Oh, and right under the door was a favorite smoking area as well, so the loud voices and smoked entered the room freely with the door open. Halfway through the night I heard a "thud" that woke me up. The door had opened on its own and it was freezing again! This happened the second night also. The next day I went to the front desk and spoke to the guy there. I asked if they had a place to store luggage after you checked out. He said yes. The thing is, he forgot to tell me that the front desk was closed during check-out time! The next morning I went downstairs to put my luggage away and the door to the desk was closed with a sign that said "drop keys through mailbox." Because of this, I had to leave Brussels on an earlier train than I was intending to because I did not want to have to carry my luggage around the city all day. Needless to say I was very disappointed by the end of the stay.

Even considering its cheap price, the room condition was really bad. You don't have your own locker. The bathroom was extremely messy. The worst hostel I have ever used.

First of all I have to say that, I have circled all around the Europe with staying many different type of hostels. During all these stop points all I needed was just a bed, wc and douche nothing more. Because of this I did not care any comment of hostels by previous residents. But this hostel has totally changed my mind. Full of refugee, immigrant and kind of strange people living inside some are smoke pot in the middle of hostel using alcohol and smoke a cigarette in wc and bath. Only wifi point is reception but no place to sit. Next to reception there is a (so-called) kitchen but full of vending machine in place of a fridge. In summary, pay 10 euro more and feel like human. Best Wishes..

Here's the thing about this place, it's a €14/night hostel in Brussels. It's not The Ritz-Carlton. I actually worked foThe Ritz for many years, and have stayed. I've also stayed in and absolutely awful hostels. If you're looking for Hilton accommodations, this is not the place for you. However, if you're traveling on a budget, this is the cheapest hostel in Brussels. It's not incredibly hard to find if you can read address numbers. It doesn't look like much, but you're not paying for it to. It has huge dorm rooms, clean showers that aren't push button, I should add. The beds are very comfortable. I stayed for four nights. No bed bugs. Clean bedding, which is changed every day if you like. Plenty of hot water. Clean bathrooms. The bathrooms and showers are not located in the rooms as this is a hostel. There's free wifi. They say it doesn't work in the rooms, but mine did just fine. There is a shared sink in the rooms. The water is potable. TV in the rooms, too. The staff is lovely, especially Adi and Danny. There is a kitchen! I loved that! No fridge, but there's everything else you need to cook. Microwave, pots, pans, cookware. People even leave condiments! There's also vending machines, one that even dispenses Jupiler Beer! There's a few convenience stores nearby that sell everything to make a dinner meal. Overall, for €14 a night, I really can't understand why people hate on this place. It's warm, friendly, clean and cheap. There's no curfew or lockout. They'll even lock up your luggage for you, and it's safe. I did this several days and all my stuff was still there. I'm thankful for this place as I ended up stranded in Belgium with almost no money and this place saved me, big time! I never had any problems with anyone. It wasn't horribly noisy, I left the window open each night and slept really well. They provide linens and pillows; which I couldn't believe for it being so cost effective. Don't let the negative reviews scare you. Those people just expected too much and I suspect that they don't travel that much. I've been traveling Europe for over a year now and this place does make some other hostels, like a horrible one I stayed in in East London, look like the Ritz. It's a really good place. Honestly, I felt compelled to leave a review because I know how nervous I was, but I was pleasantly surprised! There's no roof leaks, it's not dirty, no bed bugs, hot water and clean comfortable beds that have warm, clean linens. Plus a kitchen....for €14/night. I challenge you to find a better place for that price! Really happy with my stay and when/if I come back to Brussels, I will gladly stay here again. Also, it should be noted that from Etterbeek train station to here, it looks like a sketchy area, but if you walk, literally five minutes past the hostel it's super rich. There are tons of embassadors' homes and mansions. That's Brussels though, everything is mixed together. (:

Okay place for a short stay, long walk into town.
Alright place to stay. I stayed on the top floor so the steps were quite painfull arriving in the middle of the night with a lot of luggage. The showers were tiny but okay. Didnt get a chance to see breakfast so not quite sure. The staff were very helpful people. It was a long walk into town however there was transport very close by. An okay stay overall.

Unfortunately, you never use this hotel.
Unfortunately, you never use this hotel, because this is a student home and that is more like a dirty and dark, whit very bad steps without lift, the room have no bath, no WC, and ..... never use it. i paid him 70 Euro without using that. By seeing this place i leave the Brussels and never came back. This is a bad memorable for me that day in my life and that is worst day for me.
