A brief stay for work purposes. Nice large room, clean, good shower and fluffy towels. The bed mattress was a bit uncomfortable, would be better with a mattress topper.
I didn’t have any meals so can’t comment.
I was more than happy with my stay. The room was large, clean and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. It had everything that we needed for our one night stay. The receptionist was helpful, polite and accommodating. The location was perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Location is fantastic, right in the heart of Bristol. Room could do with some much better lighting, it was quite dingy. The bed was adequate but not super comfortable. There were some renovations happening on the floor above, accompanied by banging during the daytime. Overall not bad, but would expect it to be a little bit better value for money.
I booked before reading the reviews and in my 2-night experience it was no way as bad as the reviews would make you believe. I was dreading my stay but its a great location, good value for money, not too noisy, rooms were clean and modern and staff were friendly. My only grumble is that both lifts were out of action.
Location was great and room and bathroom spacious. Room was quite and had slept well. Good coffee and tea provisions with a kettle.
Lift broken and had to manage 5 flight of stairs. Carpets on staircase very dirty. No mattress protector and mattress dirty on the corners. View from the window into a dirty courtyard with old building materials. Empty shower gel dispenser in the shower.
Beautiful old building. Fantastic location, convenient for citycentre, covered market, canals, buses..
Genuinely friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent indian food in the bar, good value
Was a great value Sunday night booking just for a base. And such good value for money I don’t really want to complain about anything. But one thing I will say is the basic double - the bed was smaller than a standard double, and the spring coil mattress… I hardly slept. Could feel the hard spring coils. Could easily be remedied with a mattress topper.
I had a wonderful stay at the Grand Bristol. As a first time traveller to Europe, having stayed in busy London hotels, I was quite impressed by the relative size of the room. All of the different staff from booking, through check in and check out were so warm and hospitable. I would definitely stay here again. Further, the building was immaculately maintained for a rustic (intentionally rustic) spot. The caretakers of this property known exactly what they are doing and are maintaining this spot as it should be. Thank you! Absolute gem of a hotel, strongly recommend.
Bristol Grand Hotel is OK, but it certainly doesn't feel as if it's really a 4* hotel.
It's very well placed and does have the benefit of parking next door, although the car park was pretty dirty and unpleasant.
The hotel looks good from the outside, but the stairs had not been hoovered and looked dirty. The standard double room was pretty basic (compared to say, a Premier Inn) but had a full sized bath. The room was clean, but the carpet was threadbare in places and the bed was not very comfortable.
The staff (reception and bar) were pretty good and because the lifts were out of order (a problem for some guests), they did offer us free parking which saved £19. This gesture was appreciated.
Above all though, the hotel has a "tired" feel, but it's not overly expensive and is reasonably central.
