The room was clean and the maintenance staff were on hand every day to freshen the place up. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and the location was great for getting into the old town or walking around the main areas of the city

Hotel was new so everything was clean a big beautiful shower i loved it .Staff was so kind and knowledgeable about area it was so easy to go anywhere.we wanted go to St Sebatine staff was helping us to book the bus tickets too.I loved this hotel will recomand to everyone who visit Bibao Spain

Reception staff were excellent, Roger in particular was very helpful and knowledgeable. We chose not to have the breakfast but it looked very nice. The spa facilities and the roof top pool area were a really great added bonus.

I felt quite welcome by Sandra at check in and very safe during my stay. Breakfast buffet and coffee service was very good. Walkable to all of the sites but the tram from Ribera Market was a good alternative to the Guggenheim in the rain. The room with a view of the Nervion River was worth the rate. I will look for other Axel Hotels in cities I visit in the future. Highly recommended!

We stayed for 2 nights at Axel Bilbao. Room was nice and spacious, especially liked the large shower. Location was convenient just across the bridge from old town. However, the streets right behind the hotel up the hill was sketch and didn’t feel as safe to walk according to taxi driver and we saw some fights break out among locals.

I’m could not fault the hotel. Beautiful rooms, friendly and very helpful staff, perfect location for exploring Bilbao. Old Town just across the bridge and then only a 5-10 minute walk to the main shopping area. Couldn’t be more perfect. Will definitely stay again.

Super hotel

Super hotel very close to the old town. Building is new and fresh. Fair price and an excellent breakfast. Staff were friendly. Will stay again if in Bilbao.

Lovely new hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The only downside was the toilet in the room. There is a gap all around the door so no sound privacy should you need to go to the loo and your partner is in the room.

Very convenient location. Room was nice but a few complaints about the design. The shower and bath enclosure is 100% glass. Mostly frosted but one clear panel directly adjacent to bed into shower and sink area so zero privacy from room. Entry to bath has clear frameless glass panel you walk through and seemed unsafe… easy to accidentally walk into glass wall with edge being frameless especially in the dark. Bar in lobby was never open except for breakfast. Alternate bar on roof had very little shade and limited open hours. But plenty of places to walk to and eat/drink nearby.

Bad service and accommodation for the price! For a new hotel the room is extremely badly designed. No socket for the kettle, constant buzzing sound from the electric box and poor drainage in the shower leading to a bad smell. Cleaning is also bad. Used toothpick found in the sink area and left there for four days. Mugs left unwashed. Coffee/amenities in the room not topped up. Breakfast is not worth the money and runs out of food at least an hour before breakfast is due to finish, staff very lazy and don’t attempt to top up the food or clear plates from tables (whilst eating food in front of guests). Same level of poor service was seen in the rooftop bar, with glasses all over near the pool. All staff need a significant amount of training to be at an acceptable standard.
