Hotel Dekat beach near Clifflands Park

"Situated near the station and at the top of the main drag, this hotel is in dire need of some tlc. They do appear to have a programme of renovations in hand, but our corner room had several cracked window panes and dated furnishings. The sink does not have a mixer tap, and the hot water is scalding, while there is almost no water pressure for the shower. The shower room was very clean and modern; the bedding was immaculate on a comfortable bed; it was a shame the carpet hadn't been vacuumed. But they did have a small fan in The room Which helped a bit. Never ever wanted air con in any hotel anywhere in the world. But as England is having a heat wave in June. "A stranger was given a keycard to our room and wandered in while my wife was changing. When I told reception about this very serious and potentially dangerous issue, she said "Well what do you expect me to do about it?""

"Even though there are positives in that this hotel is located in a quiet area and has ample parking I do not know how it is rated a 4 star. The decor is from the 70’s and needs a serious update. Even though the website says there is a fan in the room I had to go down to reception and ask for one. The carpets need replacing and there is no ramp into the reception area so you have to carry any luggage up and down stairs. No fridge in the room either.
