"The room was dated and musty smelling, the shower did not drain, pressure was terrible and the toilet was hard to flush, we asked to change rooms since they had a ton available our second night but they Just ignored the question and offered a fix. So the shower drain was fixed the toilet was still having issues. The hot tub and pool were really awesome but were not open either day at 8am, there were no towels at night but the bartender was able to get someone to bring more. The only real positive was the bartender “Sean” he was super nice and accommodating we really appreciated him. The cook or food manager was also super friendly. "

"Check in was terrible, hotel held our luggage after arriving by cruise ship in the morning until check in at 4pm. We arrived back at hotel around 2:45pm and I stood in line at front desk for 1/2 hour clerk stated at 3:15 check in not till 4pm room not released yet. Sat down for a bit now line is getting longer at front desk this was at 3:45 was in line again. Stood in line for a little over an hour before seeing front desk clerk & even then took 10 minutes before gettin the room. The line behind me was now was going to the front door. Originally there was 2 people there & one left, why hotel was not prepared for this when a cruise ship comes in is beyond me."

"We enjoyed our stay here. The resort itself is beautiful and well kept, the landscaping/gardens/plants etc is absolutely gorgeous and they have resident macow birds who live there rent free (lol), and a pond with ducks and fish and it was really beautiful. The rooms are small but have everything you need, the cleaning and landscaping folks were super nice and do a great job. My only downfall is that the room outdoor seating area is literally on the main path where everyone comes and goes, so there is no privacy at all, even to keep the blinds open inside the room, but we weren’t there to stay at the hotel much so it’s not a problem at all, and the pool is right there if you want to sit and relax outside. This hotel isn’t in the heart of San Diego downtown so you do have to uber or drive to get to places, but it is right by the bay which is also pretty great. it just depends on if you want to be in the hustle and bustle inside the towns or if you want bay/pier side/quiet, a little bit out the way. I would 100% recommend this hotel based on my experience here in February. "

"Overall the property was fine, but the rooms were dated and not worth the price. We booked a Garden Room suite, which in theory was nice (two queen beds in a room separate from the couch/tv area) but it over looked a public parking lot. Garden room doesn’t equate to public parking lot to us. When we raised concerns about being uncomfortable with looking at people clearly living out of their cars, and expressed a desire to move to a room without a literal parking lot view, we were given a lesser quality room in the 400 “tower” at the back of the property. This room was not as nice given it was on the bottom floor, did not have a separate living area, and had a view of the dumpsters. But at this point it wasn’t worth negotiating further as we just needed a place to sleep. Recognizing the hotel has no control over what goes on at the public beach, it’s just false advertising to pretend the “300” rooms are anything but a parking lot view. The front desk staff seemed surprised we didn’t want to watch people trading plastic bottles and cans while we were on vacation and seemed dismissive of our concerns that this wasn’t the experience we expected or felt we paid for. Wouldn’t stay here again based on the lack of customer service to provide an appropriately commensurate level room or offer any discount to account for the difference. On the plus side, the restaurant was decent, those staff were lovely, and the “beach” and pool were well maintained. "
