Tucked away by the canal, a short walk from the Jim Thompson house and Siam Square/MBK, take the water taxi to Central World/Big C. Watch the water taxis on the canal from your room. Economical, spacious, traditional. A bit wonky on minor details, but workable, typical for an older property in Thailand.

This is a great place to stay for the price. The staff is very helpful. The room is very clean, although a bit outdated. It is close to BTS (5 min. walk), food and shopping malls. If you are looking for a decent place as a base while exploring Bangkok - this is it.

Convenient location close to public transport. Very comfortable bed! It's very hidden, so some taxi drivers don't know how to get to the front door.

It’s not a 5 star hotel by any means, but it’s probably the best hotel I ever stayed in. The rooms are big, beds comfortable, hot running water for showers, big fridge, cold working air condition, nice staff, safe entrance, free water and coffee, spacious rooms, quick elevators, clean premises, breakfast available, AWESOME LOCATION, laundry services around the corner, 5 minute walk from MBK mall, street food near by, 7-11 store 3 minute walk, taxis around the corner, small bistro cafe a door step away (pricey), I 100 percent recommend this hotel!!! If I ever come I will stay here again. Thank you! From your VERY satisfied U.S.A visitors!!!

The rooms are big and comfortable. As they are inside rooms they are quiet, so important. This room smelled a bit musty. The air con could use an up-grade as I believe that is why the room didn't smell fresh. The staff is very friendly and efficient, the security of people coming and going is excellent. Safe, comfortable, friendly very conveniently located place to stay. Have stayed here for many years, and will happily return.

My second stay, very close to MBK shopping mall, canal boats and a ts for getting around .bit hard for taxis as it is at the end of alley.only complaint is there is a Mosque somewhere close by using a speaker which wakes you up at ungodly hours

Check in by the owner was more professional and courteous than the check-out by a member of his team; not even a 'khop khun kah' and she had me to wait with no explanation (I guess they were checking I didn t still the fridge or lovely decoration...). Basic (but large) and old fashion accommodation. Great location but dark rooms due to balcony. Poor internet connection. Would have been nice to have a micro-wave to reheat my food. If you bring wine, make sure you also bring a corkscrew with you (tested, they have none)

This was a nice clean, safe hotel. The staff treated us well. The room was spacious and quiet. Beds are a bit hard, but the AC was fantastic. Great accommodations for a family of five. Decent breakfast.

Spacious room & great location.
Big size room with 2 bedrooms and 2 toilets. Room overlooking canal which makes it interesting to see the boat rides. American breakfast was good. Except outside toilet has a bit of smell and floor is very sticky. No toothbrush, toothpaste or sandal given. Great location to go anywhere since near MBK.

Location, Transportation & Convenience!
I Loved the Location and spacious rooms for a couple. We booked ours with a city view and were not disappointed! Shopping, BTS Skytrain, cab/tuktuk, and street food were all just mins of walk away! I found their restaurant to be pretty pricey for breakfast, but you get what you pay for! I would book my stay there again!

Worst shower ever! Hot or cold, no in between. Was sore for days as bed and pillow were not suited to me. They were only issues. Shower and bed are big things for me and these failed in our room.

very close to Skytrain. Walking distance to MBK. We could walk to almost all the shopping Mall and this was really convenient. Love it and wish to go back again

Hotel location is quite cos is inside a small lane and need to take BTS to shopping mall. But it is clean and the inside the Hotel environment is nice. Staff abit not friendly maybe is because they cant understand English well. Otherwise, for budget stay is worth while.

Gem find in downtown Bangkok
Patumwan House is a gem find in the middle of downtown Bangkok. It is a five minute walk to the MBK centre and it is close to Jim Thompson house. The rooms are massive and clean. This was my fourth stay in seven years.

The place and the the people were wonderful I would definitely stay there again. They have a small restaurant if you want to buy a meal but plenty of nice local places within walking distance.

One out of four times was a miss...
First year after coming for 4 years that we had negative experience. Mattress smelled of urine but they did not change the mattress, instead the sheets. We had to complain again and transfer rooms. We believe we got ill from the breakfast served at the restaurant and the wi-fi never worked for me on any floor but it did at every other hotel in Thailand. Of the four years coming back this was the first bad experience. But the service is always wonderful.
