The people working at Tonson are very friendly and helpful. Some of the rooms have already been renovated and others are in the process. So sometimes there is a little noise during the day, but very quiet and peaceful at night.
The rooms are BIG, spacious, comfy, and very simply furnished. They are not cluttered, so you feel all of the open space around you. A nice couch in the living room plus another in the bedroom. Very comfy bed. Nice bathroom, full fridge - it is basically an apartment.
The only drawback is the location. It's not really "close" to a lot of stuff. The nearest 7-Eleven is almost 4 blocks away. If you know anything about Bangkok, you know that means it is out in the hinterlands. The neighborhood is very upscale with lots of skyscraper condos and hotels nearby. The restaurants within a short walk of the hotel are priced accordingly, given the neighborhood. Short taxi rides will be required to go just about anywhere. It is possible to walk to the nearest skytrain and even to the Siam malls complex, provided you're not worried about getting sweaty before you get there. The hotel has a free taxi shuttle to the nearest skytrain station during the day, but you've got to request it an hour in advance. Otherwise, you can easily get your own taxi to go to anywhere.
All in all, a great place for the price.
