My La Quinta experience started with a very disappointing airport 'shittle' pickup in Austin. After calling the hotel, I was told the shuttle would arrive shortly—but while I waited, several full-sized hotel shuttles came and went with courteous drivers assisting guests with luggage.
When La Quinta’s “shuttle” finally arrived, it was a small SUV with a paper sign taped to the window. The driver appeared frustrated by my oversized bag and offered no help loading luggage or finding a solution for the limited space. With three passengers and multiple bags, we had to figure out how to make everything fit on our own.
During the ride, the driver casually shared that the hotel’s actual shuttle was in the shop because she had wrecked it—something she mentioned with surprising humor.
Overall, the experience was unprofessional and uncomfortable. Travelers may want to consider this when booking near the Austin airport.
