A chance find enroute to meetings. Good food and beer and a warm welcome, comfortable quiet room. All you would need for a one night stop on business. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again when im next in the area.

Its a lovely hotel and the staff are amazing but the bathroom in our room was very tried and two different tiles with cracks in them!

We had such a great time at this hotel, 30th and 31st December. It was a last minute decision booked on Xmas eve, to get away for New Years and it did not disappoint. The room we had (9) was opposite the cleaning cupboard which did not bother us much but might bother others as the cleaning ladies woke our dog up in the morning, however, we didn’t mind because they were absolutely lovely and loved to talk about our fur baby. The room was HUGE. USA size room with a twin bed, which was basically a super king. Next time we go we will ask them to zip link it together to make a super king, but it didn’t make a huge difference to me and my hubby. The staff are wonderful. Literally, so friendly, and so welcoming towards our nervous rescue dog. They told us the best table where to sit (in the alcove) so she could be calm, which worked a treat!! It was a lovely table, and could have sat 6 but they were happy to seat us there because of our fur baby; there were only 2 of us. I thought that was amazing. The girls behind the bar could not do enough for us, they were so friendly. The food was stunning, amazing. Somewhere that serves a roast dinner every day!! Delicious breakfast as well in the morning. Nice quiet lounge for residents to sit in, so if you wanted to get a takeaway or something, you could do one night. It was very wet when we went, but the grounds were great for walking the dog in the morning before venturing out to Ashbourne (20mins) and Blithfield Reservoir (17mins)

The staff were excellent. Really friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant was very good. Good value too. Room was large and comfortable. I was on first floor and floorboards were very squeaky and walls to neighbouring room thin so I was conscious of disturbing other guests, particularly as I had an early start in the morning.

Amazing food and accommodation
The accommodation and food was excellent and I will definitely stay here again! I had rm 26 which is a separate building off the car park and it had a lovely soft mattress and a large space within.

Short break
Used as base for seeing dales. Dog was welcome. Food good. Service good. Useful for outside door to take dog out and the wooded area provided a nice run. Plenty of parking.

Check-in was easy with helpful staff. Our room on the ground floor was very comfortable large room with King size bedding. A TV was provided in the room but was not used. The wifi was very poor during our stay (afternoon in particular) as it would continue to drop our every 3 to 4 minutes, but that may be caused by other issues outside the control of the hotel. Otherwise a good comfortable hotel to stay in.

It was our first stay in an hotel with our dog and we were made very welcome. All the staff were lovely and very dog friendly. Food was very good in the evening and at breakfast.

Another stay at an excellent hotel. Food great, service excellent, only criticism was I must have had a black spot room when he came to the free Wi-Fi as I could not connect any of my three devices.

My stay at the Boar’s Head
This place is clean, comfortable and interesting to stay in. Good bar and food which can be done according to my dietary needs ie gluten and milk free. The rooms are excellent with en-suite showers and great breakfast too.
