"We had a wonderful stay at Appleby Castle. We were made so welcome by hosts Sally and Peter. The room was adequate for a castle. Dinner was superb, a of mix of prawn and salmon starter followed by main course of garlic chicken. The setting was the in the beautiful dining room. We were the only ones dining, and had the chef cooking solely for ourselves !! Peter played the piano as we dined. Sally could not have been nicer as we chatted. We went to the TV lounge after dinner for drinks. A thoroughly lovely stay."

"Delighted with our room! It was very clean and fresh and well stocked with tea/coffee/chocolate, plus toiletries. The shower was easy to use, the water hot and plentiful, and the towels were thick and fluffy. The bed had a feather duvet which made it very luxurious and super cosy! The staff we met were polite, helpful and a credit to the company. We didn't use Restaurant next door for breakfast, but we did have an evening meal there (a cheese burger - two patties - and a chicken parmo - breaded chicken with tomato puree and garlic and cheese topping). The food was hot, the portion size generous and fantastic value for money. This place is ideal for visiting Beamish, or the Tanfield Railway (like we did). Seriously can't recommend it enough!"

"Fabulous big room, we were upgraded and was a treat for our wedding night so we were absolutely delighted. Spotlessly clean, massive comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water for the jacuzzi bath, soft fluffy towels. Everything was first class. "

"Good location. Quite expensive for such a Small room. very hot. No a/c and windows couldn’t be opened. The hairdryer was coated in a sticky substance. I won’t be returning"
