Cancelled on me, kept the $. NOT AUTHORIZED HOTEL

Casa de Don Moncho refused to allow us to check in because our bus from Managua arrived late. They left us stranded late at night without a room. I've lodged a complaint with INGUAT (the Guatemalan tourism department) and learned that this hotel IS NOT A LICENSED HOTEL and DOES NOT HAVE THE PERMITS TO OPERATE AS A HOTEL IN ANTIGUA. Now the hotel is keeping my money instead of reimbursing me for the 14 nights they denied me. Tip- there are LOTS of hotels in Antigua, find another one.

La cama no es tamaño queen

La cama no era tamaño queen era más pequeña. Nos cambiamos de hotel después de la primera noche porque fue muy incómodo para dos personas. También está un poco lejos del centro y de lugares para Ir a pie a comprar .

Hotel La Casa de Don Moncho is a beautiful colonial home refurbished as a guest boutique hotel. Very peaceful and most comfortable. The rooftop terrace has an awesome view of the volcano outside Antigua. It’s a few minutes from the center of Antigua which gave me an opportunity to know more of Antigua. Emmanuel, the manager, is very helpful and welcoming. Staying here only added to my experience.

Budget friendly

Se debe tomar en cuenta que el lugar no tiene estacionamiento gratis, como lo dice en la página, sino que se pagan Q25 en un lugar que está a unas cinco casas de distancia. El precio es muy bueno, los espacios están limpios, ordenados y bien decorados.

Buen Hotel

Muy bonito el lugar, las habitaciones limpias y el hotel bastante tranquilo. No está tan cerca del centro de antigua caminando, pero con uber se llega rápido. Recomendado.

I recently stayed at this property and have only good things to say. The proprietor was kind and helpful, and gave me good recommendations about places to see and Antigua in general. The guest house is clean and attractively decorated. With a family room, a kitchen, and a dining room, it's very homey and welcoming. I had everything I needed there and was in easy walking distance of downtown Antigua and its sites and restaurants. I would definitely stay here if I go to Antigua again. Thank you for a great stay!

The house is beautiful (though a bit far away from places). Wonderful decorations, beautiful "terraza" with a view to the volcanoes. However, there was nobody upon arrival, which meant that we had to seek refuge in a café far from the place with our luggage, and worst of all, we hired the service they offer to take you to the airport: the van was half an hour later (enough to miss a plane if you don't leave much earlier). The driver had company (it was supposed to be "exclusive"), never apologized for the delay, and even stopped for gasoline on the way. We were about to have a heart attack. I said who is going to pay if we miss the plane, and his ironic answer was "Don't worry, money comes and goes". He then said he was the owner of the house, so he didn't care about money. He again never apologized and his rudeness and irresponsibility could have cost us the flights. Therefore, I can't recommend the place. Even if the house is beautiful, one should stay away from people like that. We felt very mistreated and ruined the last moments in this beautiful city. Check for some other place where people are really nice - that's my advice.

The location may not be the best but the room I have stayed was so nice, similar to what you can see from the photo. If you don't want to take 15 minutes of walking to the centre, take Uber which just costs you merely Q15. There is no clear sign of the hotel name at the front. But you just need to find the number 25A and knock the door. Don't forget to arrange the arrival time wirh the host and get the host's phone number so that he can wait for you at the said time.

This boutique hotel is very clean and quiet away from the busy streets of Antigua but easily accessible by foot or by uber if you are returning at night. There is no daily housekeeping, but it is alright for the price. The staff responds quickly and will always help if they can. There is a kitchen to use if you wish to cook, and drinking water is also available. It is like a home away from home to me.

The house was nice, but there was not service at all, they just give you a key and a number to call if you need them. They did not have TV, blow dryer the closest restaurant was 15 min. away and the area was very bad.
