The Log House
The location was very good & the hotel provided a parking permit for the pay & display car park across the street. Room was small which was fine but the en suite bathroom is not even a little bit sound proof so doesn't leave much to the imagination! The water pressure for the shower wasn't great & the water stopped intermittently whilst in the shower. Breakfast was nice but limited to full English, salmon & scrambled eggs or pancakes with maple syrup.

I think the good star rating is down to the restaurant. The rooms needed updating, the bed had springs popping out of the middle, it needed a hoover and a complete freshen up. Does not look as it did in the pictures. We wanted a little bit of luxury but we didn’t get it here. We checked out a day early and spent the night at the townhouse further into Ambleside which I would highly recommend

Great location!
Lovely stay and good value for money. Only downside was the heat in the room (it was a very hot spell of weather) but a fan was provided, window if opened let in too much road noise. Would definitely stay again.

The Log House
Lovely restaurant 5 out of 5, steaks on hot stone excellent and breakfast choice, quality and size very generous. Accommodation average, but very clean in room, stairs carpet rather dirty as you would expect with all the outdoor footwear. A little noisy as quite near the road and room above restaurant.

I would highly recommend the log house to anyone for the price it was very good value for money. The location was very hand just across the road from the bus stop, free car parking in the public car park across the road and just around the corner from the dock for the lake cruises. Had a back entrance to the accommodation so you could come and go as you please at what ever time and not have to go through the restaurant. The staff was very welcoming and very helpful and the full English breakfast in the morning was gorgeous. If I was being very nit picky I would say maybe some of the bedroom furniture could maybe do with a bit of a refresh but that's is being a bit too critical especially considering the price. I definitely would go again!

Rather disappointing
We were a little disappointed in The Log House, which is a quirky little building on the way into Ambleside... not too far to walk. Only 3 rooms above the steak house restaurant. The stair carpet had seen better days and there was a strange smell which we found a little off putting... presumably it was from the cooking. Our room was pleasant and although clean everything looked grubby due to putting "shabby chic" cream accessories against white painted walls. The shower tray was cracked and the door damaged at the bottom and one side of the bed appeared to have a broken spring which went "clang" when sat upon (no chair in the room!) the mirror was directly opposite the window so unusable by daylight! Breakfast was a generous "full English" and the chef was amenable to my requests, thank you. We only needed somewhere to sleep so this was fine and reasonably priced.

Lovely stay, in a well run, restaurant hotel
Lovely stay, in a well run, restaurant hotel, only a short walk away from the centre of Ambleside. The room was clean, warm quiet, and the breakfast excellent. Would definitely stay there again.

Romantic night away that wasn't
Springs in the bed could be seen and felt individually -uncomfortable night. Picture of room on the internet does not indicate that it is very small, no wardrobe, but there is a hanging rail with plastic coat hangers from various places on the rail no other place to put anything, the checked throw on the bed was old and had pulled threads all over it, bedside wall lamp "arms" dusty, chandelier very dirty. Window latch very loose and screws barely holding the latch in place so it was hanging off. Shower tray had a large diagonal crack covered by a non-slip mat and chips around the plug hole. Tooth brush holder/mug dirty with toothpaste on the side and top, white left overs of something inside the base, liquid hand soap dispenser dirty with congealed hand soap around the dispenser and on the plunger. Guest lounge: Unclean TV - no remote. Material couch smelt of sweat , candle holder by the telly broken and sitting drunkenly to one side, other seating - bucket chairs table dirty with crumbs from previous person, felt very unloved & forlorn; we couldn't sit on the couch initially and had to sit in alternative seating as staff were using the lounge for their break and had taken up the couch; it looks like it was nice when it opened but needs refurbishment. We were so looking forward to having dinner here and a night away and the accommodation was such a let down, housekeeping clearly not checking on cleanliness or details that need repair and passing this on to maintenance.

Friendly Family Run Hotel
Really friendly family run hotel. The breakfast was really good, it is part of a restaurant so this would e expected. We stayed for a meal on one of the nights, again the food was top quality. You need to watch your head on some of the low beams, but that is part of the character of the hotel, so all good.

Rooms above a great restaurant
Booked for two couples for the steak night as we had heard rave reviews about the quality of the food and we were not disappointed. Rooms were very adequate and the beds very comfortable. Location is also great for both Ambleside town and the Lake, so what not to like? All in all a very good experience.

The Log House is on the edge of Ambleside, but close enough to walk in, which is great because parking is tricky. We were given a parking permit for the car park across the road which was a nice touch. I've always wanted to stay here due to the lovely images on the website, but in reality the room was looking a little tired, as was the stair's carpet leading to the room. Having said that, the staff were all really friendly and it was a tasty breakfast.

We'll be staying at the Log House again.....
Lovely, quirky hotel. Three rooms above the restaurant and as they are in the roof space then the ceilings are low in places. Our room had a brilliant view. My only regret is that we couldn't eat in the restaurant at night as the lava rock steaks (and other meals) looked fab. Breakfast was great too

Unique Experience.
We felt like we had been transported to a Swiss Alpine resort. The Food was excellent ,we chose the Steak on Hot Stones and finished the cooking process to our own liking at our table whilst looking out at the magnificent views surrounding the Hotel. The Staff were great and we even joined them at a local nearby pub to watch a brilliant guitarist. We had a wonderful stay and to anyone reading this brief, we would say,get yourself there !!!!

Staff were pleasant and more than helpful. Restaurant looked nice but we ate at a different restaurant in Ambleside. Room felt a little small and tired. The bathroom could also have done with a better clean. Didn't feel like we got value for money and disappointing as we booked due to other good reviews.

Quirky hotel
On arrival the bar man was very friendly and helpful, told us about the area and nice places to eat, obviously recommending they Log House which we opted for, the food was excellent and the staff were lovely and friendly, a little on the expensive side but worth it.

Unusual property in busy Lake District town
We were attracted by this unusual property. for a 2 night stay. Our room was at the rear so we did not hear the busy road outside. Parking (we were given a permit) was across the road. The room was comfortable and equipped with all facilities including wi-fi and was accessed via a separate entrance. Both breakfast and dinner were enjoyable meals.

Nice hotel but overpriced
It was noisy when we wanted to sleep as the down stairs is a pub, nice pub though with nice (but overpriced) food. You'd hear neighbours. The bed was bouncy and uncomfortable for us. It's got a nice shower though. We enjoyed the dinner and beer outside the pub and the next day's breakfast. It must be a well-known pub as there was a high footfall on Saturday night.

Thank you for the review, however it would have been helpful for us if you had pointed out your issues at the time of departure as we do not like to see our guests dissatisfied. I am afraid that Saturdays in the Lake District is a popular day for all local businesses.

Easy walking distance to Ambleside centre
Perfect location for overnight stay when visiting Ambleside. Welcoming staff, perfect that they provide parking across the road (give you a voucher rather than having to pay and display). Room comfortable, clean if a little warm but 'Lofty" explained this and what to do.

Friendly hotel with excellent food.
Everyone at this small hotel was very friendly and helpful, making our stay enjoyable. The building style is quite unique, location is walking distance close to Ambleside and the edge of lake Windermere. Really excellent evening meal, drinks and breakfast. Have eaten here a few times and would definitely recommend and go again.

Great little b & b
Booked this little gem last minute as it was at least £20 cheaper than anywhere else and we were not disappointed! Lovely friendly staff and a great breakfast included, the room was compact but comfortable and had a nice feel to it. We had dinner in the restaurant downstairs and it was great.

Norwegian log cabin
Lovely unique accommodation about 10 minutes walk from Ambleside. There are 3 small rooms above the restaurant. Our room was clean, cosy and warm, with great views across the fields. Parking is in a public car park opposite, for whch we were provided a permit to park for free during out stay. The breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious, there was also a choice of cereal, orange juice and yogurt. Although we did not eat in the restaurant, I have ready very good reviews. The service was faultless and we very much enjoyed out stay.

Log house- Amazing Stay
Checked in last Friday found room to be bright and spacious and very homely- Clean wide bed not very long and my feet were poking out but super wide which was a real bonus- Great Bar and den downstairs with wood burner to take those chills away with a nice or a cocktail- Dinner was Amazing - Steak on a stone cooked exactly how you want with chunky chips or mash was a real treat and was always too much to manage dessert which was constantly tempting- Breakfast was in comparison slightly disappointing but everything was fresh but after such high standards the previous evening had a lot to live up to- Really loved the proximity to the lake and the walks were easy and great to do- was a little noisy in the rooms but for a small Hotel you would expect- I would hope to stay again in the near future and would recommend this place which is pretty unique and a real find.

Excellent B&B. Fabulous restaurant.
My husband and I stayed at the Log House last Friday and we highly recommend it! The room was pretty and clean and well equipped with toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities and TV. The breakfast was second to none with a wide choice of freshly cooked ingredients. They offer a free parking permit for the car park opposite and the hotel is within easy walking distance of Ambleside town centre. The couple who run the Log House are friendly and helpful - as indeed are the rest of the staff. We highly recommend the restaurant too - the food is excellent, particularly the steakstones! Another bonus is that the Log House offers one night weekend stays whereas many hotels in the Lakes will only do a minimum of 2 nights. Thank you for a lovely stay - we will be back!

Lovely hotel at a reasonable price!
I stayed at this hotel for one night whilst visiting The Lake District. I would highly recommend this hotel, it was well kept, comfortable and the staff were very accommodating ☺. The breakfast in the morning was also lovely and I would definitely stay here again!

A good little B&B for a quick stay
A Lovely looking place in a good location, great breakfast and hosts very friendly and helpful. room may need a bit of tlc and the mattress wasn't great, needs a mattress topper.
