"Overall, we slept well, staff were friendly. Needed two beds, for myself and two teens, which Doubletree had available, hard to find in London. Our room was very small, we had to open up suitcases on the beds. Had a view overlooking the back of the hotel where they stored garbage cans. The AC stopped working, which I reported on checkout. Only stayed one night, moved to another hotel with more room and working AC. Did not feel like a Bonvoy property."

"Very nice hotel, food very good but service at restaurants terrible. Impossible to get a coffee in less than 15 minutes and drinks at bar slow as well. Darren at the front desk was the exception- he was great."

"What a weird a** place this is. This hotel does a great job straddling the line of being friendly and unhelpful. They act like they are nice but really they just want to be mean. The hotel itself is well appointed but the presentation is a bit pretentious. It's trying to be fancy but really it's just weird. It is not family friendly. We tried to have a coffee one day in the cafe but there was no server. Then we ran into some trouble with kids pool time as the TV stated the window was 9-noon...

"Stayed this past weekend for 4 nights. There is NO AC. The lobby was great, they didn’t alert us there was no AC therefore the rooms felt humid and +85 degrees all day all night. They flat out omitted this simple detail. I asked them they said it was the heat wave. Yet the lobby was cool. The next morning I asked housekeeping they confirmed it’s been like that for a while. Like it was normal. I told them that was unacceptable. They told someone and brought us a old clunky fan that...

"My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights, we included breakfast with our stay and it was well worth it. The breakfast buffet was displayed beautifully every morning with little omelettes, an assortment of breads, pastries, deli meats and cheeses, fresh fruits and vegetables, yogurt and cereals. They had many freshly squeezed juices, flavored water, drip coffee or served espresso directly from their bar. The service of the staff was excellent, they were friendly and helpful. We loved our corner...

"Amazing tranquil haven in the stylish suburb of Shoreditch within easy reach of tube station and local eateries. Clean, welcoming and extremely comfortable,air conditioned rooms. Couldn’t recommend highly enough."

"The hotel and the staff were great. The only advise I would give staff is that when people check in to just inform them of how the lifts work (as you need to use your room card key to work them) and how to switch the air con on in the room (took us an hour to suss out we had to press a button on the top of the panel to turn it on). Other than this it was a lovely stay over and it was very comfortable! Thank you "

"Very comfy beds & pillows , nice bar & reception staff , Nice pool sauna steam good, not luxurious enough to be called a spa. Our room had a power failure when we awoke 2nd morning, no air con & v warm day, we had to use the bathroom in the dark & couldn’t shower , when we rang reception there was no answer ,we reported as we checked out but only received an apology & still charged the full rate?"

"The room was always clean. The personnel were very helpful. The bathroom had a strange configuration with the toilet down the hall from the sink and shower. And there were no towel racks and not much storage space for our clothes. That is the only reason for 4 stars rather than 5. Otherwise it was a very nice room with air conditioning during a horrible heat wave. It was nice to have restaurants on the property. And it was near the tube and train station."

"It wasn’t great for the price. We paid £150 for one night. The toilet seat didn’t fit, there was toothpaste splatters all over the door, a huge crack in the sink, the sink didn’t drain properly and it was very dusty. It said VIP access and that you got a drinks credit of £17, we didn’t get that. The area is close to King’s Cross but a little sketchy. The staff were nice, helpful when we needed an iron."

"Plausible time travel decor - ambience conjures late 18th, early 19th c origin of building (in fact very eclectic but why quibble). Room comfortable and nothing lacking. Was provided with french press coffee maker for coffee service in mornings, nice touch. Plumbing also a whiff of days long gone: claw-foot tub with brass handles and regulator."
