"Vacationed here for a short honeymoon stay. Great property. However, take into consideration that the property is a 3-hour drive from the airport and the hotel does not provide transportation (costs an additional $USD200 for private transportation from the airport). "We couldn’t have picked a better place for our family vacation. We were in Villa 16 and it was absolutely stunning. The property was clean and comfortable, the view was impressive, the pool was amazing, the kitchen was large and we loved cooking as a group big family meals. "Overall our stay went well, but our check-in was a mess. This reservation was prepaid (like dozens of others we’ve made with Expedia). For some reason the front desk agent gave us the hotel’s Expedia receipt he had created which showed the room a total of $63 USD cheaper. We should NEVER have been provided that information. "If you are in Costa Rica to be close to nature, Arenal Observatory Lodge is the place to be. The views of the volcano are unbeatable and the massive grounds are teaming with wildlife--birds, coati, monkeys, reptiles. The many on-site trails are beautiful and well kept, and the optional guided tours are great. We did a guided night tour and were amazed by the wildlife we saw, all of which we never would have noticed without the guide. We ate at the restaurant for many of our meals and enjoyed everything, and the staff is extremely friendly. As with many places in Costa Rica, there was no air conditioning in the rooms, but this was not a problem for us in late April/early May and the fan did the trick. I'll miss this place! (PS, don't be alarmed by the long dirt road on the drive in, the end result is worth it.)"
