I have not seen a more stark juxtaposition of the modern with the ancient as this skyline in Baku, Azerbaijan. Baku is not yet on the tourist map so there are no hoards. This was during a walk through the old city or icharishahar. It was a memorable walk - pleasantly windy and quaint. The "City of Winds" lived up to its name!

I tried calling the driver several times, but since my number was Israeli, he did not answer. The shift manager immediately came to help, made the call himself, and handled the entire situation with professionalism and care. Thanks to his help, my passport was safely returned to me.
