This is a great value for a beach front stay. No frills. Nothing fancy. But it was clean and quiet. The parking is limited to one car per room; When I called ahead to ask about a solution to brining two cars, the clerk simply said “well you’re just going to have to cancel” I said, “no ma’am, my problem solving skills are better than that” and realized there’s paid parking directly in front of the hotel for the general public-problem solved. I paid $30/day to park my car there.

We love The Silver Gull, the rooms are a good size and have little extras you dont find in modern hotel rooms. It is right beside the beach,fishing pier, (2) restaurants and a gift shop! Great place for a beach day!!

We had a great stay. Great amount of space, loved the kitchen andn location- walk right out on the beach. Can walk to restaurants. Ample covered parking.

The list goes on and on..this was my third time staying here and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had and will not be returning. I’ll begin with the suage smell coming from our room that was absolutely disgusting. Staff moved us next door and was dismissive of the complaint, no apology or offered discount or upgraded room when hotel was empty. We were threatened by another staff who was aggressive and threatening because we did not have a floor lamp in our “new room” and because I worked part of our trip, it was needed. She accused us of stealing and smoking, neither of which we took part it. This is the same staff who I waited for for 15 minutes to check in who reaked of cigarettes. The shake smell continued in our new room, washing machine was broken, creepy maintenance men being inappropriate with younger cleaning staff and was an uncomfortable awkward moments that I observed. The parking is ridiculous and hit my car trying to park between these concrete blocks. Police were patrolling the beach area and unsettling amount, super loud outside with a bunch of shannagans outside. Landscapers used a blower every am at 8am right outside of our patio. I will be reaching out to hotel when I return home,

I enjoyed my time here. It is right beside a pier and parking lot so I can imagine it being louder in the summer but it was nice a quiet during our stay. it is a Motel and has been there since the 70s so expect that. But given how old it is the staff does a good job keeping looking nice. I would stay here again for sure.

This hotel is lovely. It’s well kept, quiet and the staff is friendly. You can’t beat having a walkway from the hotel directly onto the beach! We will definitely be returning when we are back in Wilmington.

this hotel is overall excellent. its not the fanciest place I've ever stayed but it is clean, safe and right on the beach. also right next to the pier. honestly cannot ask for anything more. a small maintenance issue was addressed promptly with no issues. would absolutely recommend and stay again.

The motel was right on the beach which was terrific!! The room provided new bedding and clean towels and toiletries. The kitchen surface was clean but the dishes were not. We had to wash them before using them. Also the drain board and dish rack were so dirty , we couldn’t use them.

Always love our stay at Silver Gull. Could use a little more attention to things like plumbing fixtures loose, better towels, changing out damaged shower curtain. However for the price and location it is tough to beat.

The room rate was very reasonable. I chalked that up to off season since I read decent reviews. Unfortunately I waited too long and the hotel I was at for an event was completely booked. I googled closest places. They were serious about do not smoke in your room or balcony (which I appreciated) but I could not get the stench of old nicotine out of my sense of smell. The room was very old with some superficial updates. My opinion is the location is the only reason they continue to stay in business. My OCD would not allow me to sleep here. I stayed in the room about 45 mins and left.

Great location but rooms was not very clean like they should have been. First room had to be switched, was human hair on the beds and in draws, floors not clean. second room was not any cleaner. Office not open 24 hours so if need help no one available at night. The elevator broke and had to constantly use the stairs, very inconvenient. But overall a good stay. I would stay again to see if it's better next time . Maybe it will be and I can give a better review. Just being honest here.

Weekend getaway
Took my wife on a weekend getaway for her birthday. Sits right on the beach, rooms didn't smell musty or have an old smell but smelled clean. Supplied with plenty of towels, dishes and silverware. Full size fridge and oven which was really nice. Balcony with seating also a full size Deck right off of our floor with plenty of sitting. Our sliding door was close to the beach you could hear the waves. Very relaxing. Close to the pier but costs $2 just to walk on pier. Very quiet, relaxing place to stay. A parking deck is provided, local small shops within walking distance. No major restaurants within walking but that's what we like. Really nice place to stay. This is a great place for older couples or quiet place just to get away. Our new favorite place to relax for sure.

I was on a road trip and headed to the Silver Gull late-ish at night. I didn't realize that the front desk closed at 11p. They called me to let me know and I made it just in time. The staff was kind and the check-in / check-out process was easy. For the room I had, the price was excellent. I was a 30 second walk to the beach / pier. Beautiful sunrise. Only wish I had more time to spend here.
