generally okay, but could do with a clean
Overall a satisfactory stay, room was in order, just enough space - something you would expect of a youth hostel. The bathroom was not so satisfactory: there was not enough space to hang up/put clothes/towels/wash bag; the taps were often broken and not fastened to the sink, hence wobbly; everything was just a little bit yucky and not so pleasant. The room was decent but could have been cleaned better (evidence of previous visitors was still there & here and there it was very dusty). Here it would have been handy to have a few more hangers to hang up towels, jackets, etc…

Firstly I feel your website truly needs updating relating to covid as when I arrived there wasn't any signage or restrictions which showed that we've lived thru an international pandemic for 3 years. Why mention it here when there’s evidence in its application I was rudely quizzed about no entry without ID but the Web info only says maybe, whereby the girl checking me in was absolutely insistent that I'd only be admitted with a passport. Due to an emailing issue on my phone I asked her to screenshot my ID...she rudely grabbed if from my hand and reluctantly did it I prebooked and asked for a bottom bunk. Was allocated a top one, which I can only assume was due to me being a 'difficult' customer. The bottom bunk was free when I checked in that evening. The steps up to the bed are not suited without foot wear At around 0200 there was a fight amongst 2 male guests. One obviously drunk. The night male receptionist eventually came up to calm things. Saw an open can of lager from one of the guests but no action taken, despite a no alcohol policy clearly displayed I'm used to hostel stays throughout the world and used to community living but this represents the worst of this type of hospitality

Great location. Service was great in the pub below but in the rooms above loud, not great for sleep. Rooms had bed bugs and underneath the beds were not cleaned. I checked out on discovering this (other people had checked out as well or were moved to other rooms)

Not best welcome when i arrived Got to the room and it stank of sweaty feet and bo All through the night was constant noise I was lucky to get couple hours sleep at most The bathrooms seemed clean but someone left one in awful mess The only good thing was the bed Sheets were clean and was quite comfy

Bed Bug Infestation
I'm really sad to write this review. I've stayed 200+ times at this hostel over the last 4 years and the accomodation, staff and location are fantastic. Even better since the refurbishment, although with a slight increase in price and removal of free breakfast, not as competatively priced as previously. However the real deal breaker has been the on and off Bed Bug infestations that I have had to suffer. On my last stay, they were so bad, I have over 100 bites and had to get a refund and leave early. Easily the itchiest bites I have ever suffered. I feel the Hostel is in denial and failing to fully address the issue. I therefore emplore anyone suffering same to leave a review and hope that the Hostel will be fully treated and get back to offering great accomodation.

The staff was terrible, I had a problem with one of the guest in the room because he was drunk and under drugs effected, I asked the staff to change my place to another bed or room they refused to help me them I had to leave the place 2am for my own security

The guy serving at the bar, put me in the worst bunk (i.e. top furthest from the window). Safety light on all night, room like an oven, 1 inch gap in window opening. If he didn't do it on purpose, I think he needs to experience a hot night for himself.

Quite poor. Room was very sparse, just a 3 tiered bunk - I really felt like a battery chicken - no lockers, no furniture, just a table and a mirror. It felt like the spirit of Charles Dickens was being kept alive. The breakfast was good, but the cramped facilities and problems such as a toilet with no light (that couldn't be used in the evening), soap dispensers being left empty for days and the fact most people in my room slept with their luggage on their beds (because of no lockers) mean I would rate this as one of the poorest hostels I have stayed in. I went with an open mind and wasn't worried about the noise etc (I expect a pub to be lively). £5 to buy a towel was unexpected. The area is ok and the pub seemed very pleasant but a dedicated hostel for a similar price would give a much better service.

We found a beg bug from the girl's bed below me. She has been bited from one too.. Hostel staff couldn't too anything "than give a refund as a hostel is fully booked". After one hour calling to places one girl of staff said that shw has arranged a new bed to this girl. Otherwise clean, and pub has warm atmosphere. Staff is also otherwise welcoming.

Convenient, but VERY 'No Frills!'
I just stayed for a night after meeting some friends for an event in Clapham. The staff were very friendly and the pub looks like it would be a good laugh - I wasn't there to see it at its best, sadly! The room, a 3-bed shared dorm, was a single triple bunk bed in a very small room. The (mixed) shower room was a bit rough around the edges, and could really have done with a thorough, daily clean - it certainly didn't look like that happened. The shower door in mine was hanging off the hinge too, but wouldn't have taken much effort for stuff to fix properly. My biggest gripe? No security. No locker or cage-box to be able to put my items in and secure with a padlock. I've stayed in many hostels, and that's something that should feature in them all. The hostel is actually quite close to being decent, especially for the location and price. It just needs a bit of TLC!

The hostel is located above a pub. I stayed for 5 nights and I wish I hadn't. It's the worst hostel I've stopped in in London, and I've stopped in 6 or 7. The showers are like a burst pipe unless you like cold showers then it's half powerful. The bathrooms are filthy (ensure you take flip flops). So much is broken, from door handles to toilets. The hostel rooms are 'OK' at best but generally quite dirty. The people it attracts make it a horrible place to stop. No tube links, just buses (which you find anywhere in London). There's a small communal area in the pub for the hostel goers but it's small and nothing to do. No microwave or kitchen appliances at all. The only one good thing I can say about this place is the burgers in the pub, they're quite something. That's it's.

Great value and good service
For the price you paid it is an incredible hostel. I stayed in a 6 bedded female dorm for 2 nights with no big problem at all. Nice people, key code system is good to me since some hostels require deposit for keys so you don't have to pay deposit in this hostel. With good wifi and daily housekeeping, plus individual shower room with shower head and nice toilet etc. Breakfast is simple but good enough: bread, cereal, coffee, orange juice, milk and tea bags available. Only down side was the location is not close to central London and no tube station nearby. But there is a bus stop right outside the hostel.

Totally fine spot
This is a fine hostel. Yes, the triple-decker bunks are a bit tight, and my last night it was a little warm. It's not right in the center and is inconvenient for the tube, but the 87 bus stops literally right in front of the hostel and that will get you to trafalgar square in about 25 mins, and for only £1.50 a ride it's not a bad deal at all. The breakfast is basic--toast, oatmeal, tea/coffee--but tasty and free. I lucked out with early-to-bed, early-to-rise roommates, but of course these things vary with hostels. Never had a problem waiting for the bathroom or showers even though they're shared, which was a pleasant surprise. The wifi wasn't great in the rooms but it's fine to go hang out in the pub to go online, there were always seats available even though I was staying here over a weekend. You need your own lock for the locker (they sell them if you don't have one) and your own towel. This isn't abnormal for hostels so if that's going to make you miserable then be sure to check before you book one! The pub was nice and clean, and there was a quiz night going on when I checked in. Plus, it was hella cheap. I feel like I got my money's worth.

bed is comfortable and clean, room and toilet are not so clean, and some of showers didn't work well. great location for wimbledon tennis by bus (35mins) a lot of restaurants nearby

Not bad considering how cheap it is.
Very cheap and lovely staff. Unfortunately there were mice in the room that ate my chocolate, and the radiators were stuck on high, so even in the middle of January we had to open the window in the dorm, which still wasn't enough, so I took the duvet out of the cover and just slept under that. No guest kitchen, unfortunately, so no fridge to store your own food or place to cook for yourself. However, the free breakfast was very good!

Don't expect to get any sleep
Stopped 2 nights and had very little sleep as other room mates were in and out of the dorm room throughout the night, no consideration of those who were trying to sleep. This really needs to be addressed with travellers when they check in. Bar staff really grumpy,unfriendly and huffed if they were asked to make hot drinks. A bit of a shame really as the pub was lovely and the manager is enthusiastic about making a good go of things.
