Check in went well but when we got to our room the heat wasn't working. We were going to call the front desk but there was no phone in our room so we had to walk outside to go to the office. We were told that the phone broke a few weeks ago and they never got around to putting another one in. The front desk guy (I think his name was Jay) brought a space heater to our room which didn't do much - outside temp was 28 degrees. Later in the evening power in our room and many of the surrounding rooms went out for about an hour so any amount of heat we had was lost. Power went out again around 7:00 am and at that point we decided we would check out and get other accommodations. My husband went to the office and said we were going to cancel the next 2 nights which we had booked and asked if there was anything that could be done since the night we stayed was a disaster. The same guy from the night before got belligerent and said we were looking for a free night which was not the case. He then said in his words "You need to be out by 11:00. Not 11:10, Not 11:01, 11:00 or he would not authorize Expedia to refund our remaining 2 nights. Fortunately we were able to find another hotel which checked us in early and our trip was not ruined by this hotels run down facility and unprofessional staff member.
