Despite the Clean Air Act, this property allows smoking. They have a bar at one end where they allow indoor smoking, and, per management, rooms on both ends are designated as smoking. There is limited entry by an indoor hallway, which smells of smoke. I was not aware indoor smoking was allowed anywhere. I haven’t run into this since 2000.
I have serious asthma. I had been at a horse show all day and could not smell anything at all upon arrival. Once showered, it became quite clear I had a problem.
Additionally, I nearly ran them out of hot water in the course of an average shower.
The towels are threadbare and scratchy.
The bed was hard with old bedding.
Vending and ice are very loud and were nearly constant for the hour I was in the room.
He offered me a different room, but with smoking offered at both ends, it would make no difference.
I submitted a complaint to corporate. The franchise response was to say I was in the room for three hours and offer a partial refund. I was at the property for two hours, check in to returning to my car.
According to the truck stop employees, who expressed concern over my obvious asthma, the establishment has received numerous complaints. Drive on to Iowa Falls and stay there. They were booked up, or I would have.
