"The front desk staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is centrally located to downtown Santa Monica and the beach, restaurants, shopping and several attractions. Parking is problematic in this area, so it was a benefit to have parking for a minimal fee (and city taxes). It was convenient to UCLA Medical Center, where my husband was receiving medical treatment. I felt safe and comfortable. There's no valet, bell service or room service. There is a refrigerator and microwave, which was a benefit reheating the meal we enjoyed the night we arrived. There is a Continental breakfast, but mostly muffins, packaged pastry and coffee. I don't recall if there was water or other beverages. Clean towels. Hairdryer. Ironing board and iron. The hotel was clean and quiet. Definite beach vibe, but it's more of a motel than hotel. The rate was in line with others in the area, but lacked certain basic things - such as drawer space. We were able to use the closet shelving and cart rack to place items normally placed inside drawers. There's a new law about no travel toiletries supplied, so there were shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower, and bar soap on the sink and in the shower. In spite of these basics, it was a pleasant experience. The staff was enjoyable to talk to, and helpful when I needed directions outside of my memory of living in Los Angeles for 30 years. I'm not sure if we would stay there again, but don't let my standards color your decision to stay here."

"The staff here is stellar! My husband was getting medical treatment at UCLA during most of our stay. The front desk, West Restaurant and the valet service took care of me well. Examples: I needed a champagne flute. Not only did West Restaurant give it to me, the glass was chilled. I needed some information and directions to closest tobacco shop, they assisted me. My Lexus convertible can be difficult to start, and each valet was patient and treated her with love and care. The rooms are comfortable and cozy with excellent views. I had all that I needed as far as drawer and closet space, ironing board, ice bucket, towels and toiletries. I lounged by the pool, and ordered room service as needed. There were several times that I had to use the stairs rather than the elevator to return to my room because the elevator got stuck on higher floors. I also had difficulty on my floor with one side not wanting to return to the lobby, so I would get out and press the button for another elevator. Even though it's not necessary to tap your room key to go to the lobby, sometimes this option allowed me to return to the lobby. An excellent choice. It was convenient to Santa Monica, 405 and 10 freeways when I ventured over to Melrose Arts District for dinner, and for the drive home. I would recommend this hotel. They understand service, they are accommodating, patient and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and pleasing! "

"I checked in after 5:00 PM, left my belongings in the so-called “private” room, and went out to dinner and to watch the hockey game. When I returned after 9:00 PM, I found someone else staying in the room with all of my personal items still inside. Why the other person did not question the situation, I have no idea. Thankfully, nothing was missing. I immediately reported the issue, and the person at the front desk was very helpful and said he would provide me with a full refund. I came downstairs upset and said a few things out of frustration, and to their credit, they could have asked me to leave, but the staff understood the situation and provided me with another room. Again, the staff was very nice and handled the situation professionally, but after this experience, I will not be staying there again. Thank you, and good luck."

"Love the look and vibe of this property. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Love the Culti shower gel. Greta at the front desk was lovely. The restaurant was cool and food was good. My only complaint was how long it took to get our food while sitting at the bar. Other than that, would recommend and would stay again. "

"We have stayed here twice back to back weekends. It is strategically located as its nestled in the neighborhood and easy walk to beach and the Pavilion Grocery store. This is a unique find in that it is very quaint and represents a place in the past. We are from the Bay Area and really appreciate the architecture and clean grounds. The staff all around were very helpful and professional. We have already booked a 3rd visit coming up."
