"Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel is located right on the beach, the ocean is just a step away. We couldn't have asked for a better location. The restaurant is open for limited time frames but room service is available throughout the day. Loved the view from our room, to get the sea view you have to book premium sea view. "This is a very nice beach front hotel. Popular place since 70s. Close to the city center with bus/train stations, banks/ATMs. Turtle beach also very close, we can feed the friendly sea turtles and take photos. Kids friendly beach area. This hotel has swimming pools. One for the kids also. Good breakfast and dinner buffet with international food items, some local items also daily. Good A/C, Hot water, comfy beds. "It's an old hotel. 50 yrs. So it's tired and needs a refurbish. Rooms are OK, but bathroom leaks water from the shower leaving puddles of water in the bathroom. Could smell urine in room 205 when using the shower so probably linked to the drainage system. Pool needs redone as several broken tiles and there were 3 people I saw who cut themselves including a member of staff and my daughter. "Great stay! Very reasonable price so I cannot complain. King bed room on 2nd floor. Right on the beach and property has a pool (I did not use). Wifi is not strong. On the last night, the AC in my room kept saying “EC” and not working. I would’ve told staff if I had noticed it before late in the evening on my last night. Also, did not appear to be hot water in my room, but it’s a very hot climate so the cool water was nice. Did not eat at the restaurant as other options nearby were less costly. "
