"My stay at Lanehead old school was fantastic. The owners Lisa and Chris were lovely and extremely helpful. My car broke down on the way there and they offered to pick me up. They then offered to pick me up from the garage I had my car towed to. Excellent hosts. It was like staying with old friends! I can't recommend the place highly enough!"

"This is a beautiful, unique lodging, as neat as a pin! We enjoyed evenings and breakfast chats with other guests in the comfortable lounge and dining room. Our hostess was quite helpful in revising our accommodations to suit a last minute need. The surroundings are breathtaking!"

"Beautiful hotel rooms are well kept and in excellent condition.
The food in the bowes incline is the best around I could have stayed at a relatives house but wanted to eat and have a drink here - delicious!"

"We used the Pickled Parson as a home base for a month while visiting family. The room we had for that duration of a stay was a little small, but it was comfortable, clean and made up daily. The staff were all amazing and really made us feel at home. A very relaxed atmosphere with great breakfast options. The bar was a great option to wind down at the end of the day with a night cap.

"signage outside could be improved. Had to lean over to read name of hotel as it is vertical rather than horizontal and from top of street missed the sign and walked round the block in the rain until asked at an other hotel who pointed my group in the right direction. Reception check in was quick and the staff very friendly. I had asked for an accessible shower as I am not in the prime of my life which ment I had a large bedroom as well. Only drawback was the shower was not very hot."
"The curtains in my room were too small for the window by about 12 inches letting light in at 04.30am, the sink was cracked in the bathroom, the tiles were cracked and dangerous (sharp bits) the carpet was filthy and communal areas filthy. I stop in hotels every week and never leave a review but this was terrible"
"The County Hotel charged me twice for my stay last weekend, can’t get anyone on the phone to call me back to discuss, and they won’t respond to my e mails, horrendous customer service"
"Good location on the river and close to the city though there are many stairs to climb. Breakfast and evening meals were tasty and good value. Carpark access is via an external small lift."
"The castie hotel is absolutely gorgeous! Wonderful bedroom , very convenient for popping out with the dog . Staff were welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately the guest WiFi was not working and we were not told . We were unable to contact family, complete important legal tasks , or watch the tv. The ‘ superior’ menu food was very disappointing "
"Overall, my stay was a pleasant and straightforward experience - the room was comfortable, everything was in order, and the check-in process was smooth. However, I was quite disappointed to be disturbed by housekeeping early in the morning. As this was a one-night stay and it was well before check-out time, the visit was entirely unnecessary and caught me (and the family) off guard. Being woken up unexpectedly is frustrating at the best of times, and the manner in which staff knocked, and used their key to open the door, was abrupt and rather rude.
I'd kindly ask that housekeeping schedules take into account the length of a guest's stay - a single-night booking really doesn't require a morning visit, particularly so early. I hope this feedback is useful, as it's the only thing that put a dampener on what was otherwise a very agreeable stay."
