  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

The hotel was very exquisite clean and we'll maintained. The room was more than adequate with a great view of City Palace. The breakfast was great really enjoyed it and location was perfect walking distance to the best sites. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The Kotra Haveli in Udaipur is in a fantastic location, very close to the Jagdish Temple and Lake Pichola. It provides a calm, clean, safe haven, in the heart of the tourist area and shopping side streets. The restaurant and roof top seating area has amazing views of the City Palace. Breakfast offers a variety of Continental or Indian styles. The Lunch and Dinner menu is great too. The Hotel Manager is very helpful, as is all the Hotel Staff. We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful Udaipur.

Just loved the hotel and the restaurant.

2 minutes walk to the city palace. Amazing service and staff. Loved the charm and character of the hotel. Wonderful breakfast and dinner! Can't wait to return and would totally recommend.

It's fun to stay in this haveli. It has the best view of the City Palace at night on the roof restaurant, better than the Taj lake palace or leela where i also stayed. A steal at this price.

Fantastic hotel

Lovely hotel. Stunning views. Fantastic location. Room was noisy at night and curtains were thin. Bring a mask and earplugs and you will be fine.

Good central location, reasonable price. However, hotel is accessed down a back alley which was dirty and stank. Unfortunately none of rooms have a view.

Kotra Hotel

Kotra Haveli, is in an old part of Udaipur, with in walking distance to the City Palace and right down the street from the Jagdish Temple. The room was comfortable, they have a roof top restaurant and the breakfast was okay too. Received bottle water every time we asked for it during our stay. Staff was very friendly and polite.

Great location and central to everything that’s touristy. Great staff and service. The access is through a by lane which has their garbage dumpster right in front of the hotel. Really bad smell and very unclean.This needs to be handled properly.

Perfect location. Amazing chef and staff at the restaurant. All staff attentive. Very clean everywhere. Good ist impression when you go in the hotel. Let down when you see the rooms. Clean, comfortable but very dated. Bedding top cover not big enough for 2 people Our windows were blanked out because of the view. No natural daylight. After saying that for the price, food and location we would not hesitate to stay there again

We stayed at Kotra Haveli for 2 nights and the location of the hotel is picture perfect. Walkable to & from Jagdish Mandir and City Palace. The rooms are spacious and quite nice. Also please do check the seal of the house water bottles before opening. The breakfast was okay and the staff were polite with requests. Only major drawback of the hotel is that cara don’t enter the lane where the hotel is situated as old town gets crowded usually. The hotel will cater to Airport drop requests. To sum it up with respect to the price, the hotel exceeds your expectations.

Little gem hidden in the old Udaipur close to Jagadish temple and the traditional Hattie Pole shopping area with its narrow lane but colourful and full of life. Checkout Lalit Shree Arts (mob. 9785056192) who makes hand painted art with intricate design. The crowning jewel was the kitchen staff - the main chef Pravinji and all his kitchen staff including Bhupendra, Roopsing, Gopalji were very friendly to our needs. They do work hard and deserve 5 star from us. Also the staff at reception - Rahul and Dixa was present with a smile. Lastly Mahendra helped us with the luggage as our car was unable to come near the hotel due to traffic restriction. All in all at the price range it was an excellent choice.

I loved the cleanliness and vintage look of the hotel . It’s fairly close to all the attractions in the city . Only negative that I can think of is the location but if you prefer authentic experience , This hotel is good option under budget .

After an exhaustive journey they made me alive again by such a warm welcome. After burning my caloric since all the view point were near by so i preferred walking, I loved my dinner at roof top with the view of City palace, especially butter chicken. Highly recommended kotra haveli.
