"Lovely property. You need a car if going to old Matera. Grocery store close by. Pretty grounds and great pool (although like most Italian pools, not heated.) we found easy parking lots near the historic area so it is ok. The photos are deceiving because the spa whirlpool tub is not included - you have to pay 100 euro per couple to use those amenities. That should be made clear in the listing or they shouldn't show the photos. " Cave" hotel room is fun but only a window at door and in bathroom....

"Staying at Fra i Sassi Residence was definitely a highlight of our trip. The hotel is located in the Sassi with a fantastic view of the old city! We stayed in the Cave Apartment which was very nice! The air conditioning worked well in conjunction with the dehumidifier (all the caves can get a little damp). We were surprised to see the room included a kitchenette which was not mentioned in the description, but turned out to be extremely convenient!

"We absolutely loved our stay of 4 nights at Thymus! Incredibly clean and so cool to stay inside a cave. Breakfast outside while looking at the hills of matera will never be forgotten. Well worth every penny!"

"Franceso was amazing. His BnB is everything you could hope fore, extremely clean, quirky and an espresso machine!
