Au cœur du Tongariro Alpine Crossing

Superbe environnement et choix très pratique pour le Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Par Conte le “hot pool” n’a pas de bulle (alors qu’il faut payer pour y accéder et la cuisine commune est un peu petite au vue du nombre de gens qui l’utilisent.

Convenient clean helpful

Had self contained unit which seemed brand new. Helpful staff and pickup right at driveway. Charge for shuttle luckily we could hike next day as I would not want to be stuck out here waiting. Nothing out here. You come to hike

Fine for a night...

Although it was fine for what we were looking for and the owner was nice, the place is quite run down. We stayed at a number of parks across New Zealand and I’m sorry to say that this was our least favourite. We really struggled to cook in the kitchen as it is badly equipped, every other place we’ve been at had basics like oil, salt, pepper etc but all this kitchen has are pots and pans.

Not a good place to stay

We have used this place in the past and the experience was good but this time we were not allow to use the cabins because they decided that cabins is for couples, no kids allowed on the cabins. There were spider webs on the ceiling and also fleas that fortunately didn't bite my kids only me. We will not be back because with kids is handy to have ensuite cabins and they are not longer using that for families, we thought it was going to be ok but it wasn't and also the cleanliness is not acceptable. The whole place is in need for some maintenance as it is easy for bugs to come inside when you see holes on the facade, it looks old and run down.

Emplacement exceptionnel pour faire la tongarino alping cross. Acceuil très agréable et de bons conseils pour les autres activités. Pratique pour faire une lessive ! Cuisine commune bien équipée avec des échanges aux repas! Bel endroit

Get what you pay for! (In a positive way!)

Really convenient place to stay if you're doing the Tongariro Crossing as shuttle bus picks up just outside and there is a free day park service.

Very close to Tongariro Alpine Crossing!

A little rough, but comfortable and the staff were great! Very glad there was a heater in the room...it was cold!

Excellent vantage point for trekking

This is a budget camp ground/holiday park. We stayed in a two room unit which slept 5. The accommodation was a little cramped but tidy. The facilities are largely communal but well looked after. There is quite a mix of European and American visitors which makes meal times interesting. There is never a shortage of conversation if you are interested.

Cramped & below par

Not at all as it was advertised online through Wotif, this was one disappointment after another. From the tiny cramped box of a room to the lack of linen for an international traveler; from the stand-in manager from overseas to the poor communication, this may be a hikers delight but certainly not a family-friendly holiday park as advertised. Ammenity block closed for three hours with no communication on where else to go. Double-charged for booking already paid for through Expedia and still waiting for refund. No wifi so couldn't confirm I'd already paid for the booking at the time of check in. Rude hikers stomping around verandas from 4:30am until they clear out at 7am. Don't expect a sleep in here. Not the place for a lengthy stay, if at all! Worst experience.

Cabin was way smaller than expected but everything was clean. Communal toilets were exceptionally clean. Take your own pillow if you get a cabin.

Good value for money

Not my first choice for a snowboarding trip as this place is a bit of a trip from National Park village (no walking to the pub). But not far from Whakapapa skifield and very handy to the Tongariro Crossing. Also very good value.

School holiday and visit to mt. Ruapehu

The facility and staff were great, the only thing that im not happy is mobile network availability no signal, though this is beyond control of the management of the facility.
