Charming, stunning and quiet location. Just wonderful in an old world opulence kind of way. We loved it!

Nice place - not sure I'd stay again though.
We stayed here on our trip to Oban for one night. We were welcomed by cigarette smoke from some of the workers on the entrance to the hotel. The hotel is charming and our room was nice. We had to sit down in the bath tub to shower as there was no shower doors or curtain in the bathroom. Bed was comfortable.
First let me say our overall stay at the hotel was very good, but the value for the money? When we arrived at check in late afternoon, I was at first shocked when they told me that we could not have the cottage which we had reserved. However they graciously upgraded us to two upstairs rooms with a Lakeview at no additional charge. The rooms were Ichrachan and Tervine. Both were very spacious and nice. Had I paid full price for the rooms, I would have been very disappointed. I happen to also look at the cottage as we drove in, and I'm glad that we did not get that location, as it was a very long distance from the main house. Dinner was very good, although probably about 30 to 40% overpriced. The biggest issue I think for any traveler would be the extended drive on a single lane road through about 12 to 14 miles of countryside in order to arrive at the hotel. This does provide outstanding solitude.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel for someone who desires a tremendous amount of solitude, since the closest town of any significance is about a 30 to 45 minute drive away.
stayed for two days. Beautiful location and lovely building. However the cost was not value for money. I would think something around £140 per night for a basic room is more reasonable than the £230 we were charged.
It is also in a remote location and you have to travel for miles down a single track lane which may be difficult for drivers who lack confidence or who may have disabilities.
Food was also not value for money.

Not quite as good as we hoped.
We have been before two years ago and enjoyed so much that we went with friends . It is a fabulous location and in the middle of nowhere. The food , although good quality is minimal and after dinner with nowhere to go , we were hungry.
not a typical hotel. out in the middle of nowhere. interesting amenities: reading in the drawing room, fishing, nature walks, skeet shooting and motorboats to take out onto the loch (lake). Fine dining

delightful location but eat elsewhere
Ardanaiseig is in a fantastic location set in its own grounds on the edge of Loch Awe.
The staff were very kind and helpful, and the building is impressive with some interesting art.
We felt they let themselves down, however, with a disappointing response when we drew their attention to overcharging for our breakfasts. We were charged for four cooked breakfasts (£16.50 pp) for each of the three days we stayed, when in fact there were only three of us and we only took the adequate, but somewhat meagre, buffet breakfasts (still priced rather generously at £9.50 pp). They bundled it all up into the room charge, so it was not immediately clear at the time of checkout what had been done.
It took a frustrating number of emails in the subsequent days, during which we received a number of denials from 'reception' before finally getting the £100 odd pounds refunded.
The dinner we took at the hotel was also expensive and very underwhelming.
We recommend staying at the Ardanaseig but taking all your meals elsewhere
Etive at the Taynuilt Inn (dinner only) is amazing, with a wonderful host, and significantly less expensive than Ardanaseig's restaurant, but make sure you book well in advance. The Kilchrenan Inn which is a little closer serves very decent gastropub grub.
This is not a luxury hotel - it's not the most up-to-date or modern. But it feels authentic while being extremely comfortable and having nice amenities like beautiful grounds and common rooms
Location was literally the middle of nowhere, which was wonderful. Totally disconnected but treated so well and spoiled by the staff. The room was delightful, bathroom was comfortable, parking, wifi, food and drinks were perfect. Staff was adorable. We couldn't be happier and we will come back. Many more times.
A beautiful hotel with friendly staff, excellent food, lovely loch views and wonderful gardens. Tucked away in a remote corner of Scotland, it's a fantastic place to relax. Highly recommended.
We called to let them know that we would be arriving late. They took our dinner order on the phone so we would not miss the restaurant. We were met at the door and helped to our very comfortable room. We had been given a free upgrade. The staff were attentive, polite and helpful. Our room was fabulous. The hotel and grounds were gorgeous. It wasn't cheap but it was a memorable experience. We hope to go back sometime.
Fantastic views on Loch Awe. Stunning scenery all around but no surprise in the west coast of Scotland. Hotel was beautiful but won't be to everyone's taste if they like modern design and decor. Nice and remote, the nearest pub is a six mile round walk.
We visited this hotel due to its location originally.10miles from the nearest main road the hotel is in a stunning location overlooking Loch Awe. Long walks, a day trip out and a swim in the loch fantastic couldn't recommend it's location more. Staff were excellent, hotel could do with modernisation in places but overall amazing trip and would go back.
This is definitely not the place to stay if you are wanting to sight see in the area. It takes a long, long time to get to the hotel, and the nearest restaurant is at least 40 minutes away. Given the price and reviews, we had high expectations. However, in a month-long tour of the UK and France, this was definitely the most disappointing place we stayed. Ironically, it was also the most expensive. We stayed in bed-and-breakfasts and 4- and 5-star hotels the whole month - all surpassed this hotel for cleanliness, quality, and friendliness of staff. This hotel was pretentious, but without the quality to back it up. However, the hotel and grounds are in a beautiful setting, and the scenery around Scotland was definitely not lacking! Other highlights were hiking around the hotel. I'd only recommend the hotel if your focus is to enjoy the grounds and get away from it all.

If it were a home for sale, it would be a fixer.
The setting is remarkable. It's a long drive from the main road but peaceful once you get there. The hotel is the only local option for food, so, though service and food were very good it was a bit monotonous. There is a lot of deferred maintenance, many carpets were threadbare. Beautiful setting is a great mittigator.
From the drive in to the departure a sight to open your heart. Attentive and professional staff took care of all our wishes. I cannot give a higher recommendation.
