Top Lake Eyre Basin Hotel Reviews

Discovery Resorts – Wilpena Pound
10/10 Excellent
"Can’t fault Wilpena Ponds Resort. Check in was easy & staff very helpful. Our room , Brachina was very comfortable. We had dinner both nights in the restaurant. It is not a 5 star resort, but remember you are in the Australian outback & to have something this comfortable is amazing. Would recommend & stay again"

Desert Sand Motor Inn
8/10 Good
"We enjoyed our stay at the Desert Sands Motel. We received a code for our door to unlock door so didn’t need a key.
We had the spa room which was clean and large two person spa.
Was close to city centre and Sturt Club which had great meals.
Air conditioning kept room at good temperature.
Had a microwave bowls plates etc in room, tea coffee, kettle and fridge. The shower had shampoo, conditioner and body wash wall containers and basin had handwashing and body lotion.
Would definitely stay again"

Broken Hill Tourist Park
8/10 Good
"Clean room, uber comes to the cabins"

Rawnsley Park Station
10/10 Excellent
"Great location in the Flinders ranges, clean and functional rooms and a lovely restaurant onsite"

Saltbush Retreat
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed in one of the 10 Slab Huts, very rustic but comfortable. Close to tourist locations with QANTAS Founders across road and Stockmans Hall of Fame both within short walking distance.
The only drawback would be the traffic noise from highway with road trains travelling 24/7."

The Underground Motel
10/10 Excellent
"Nice parking lot with shade
The room is just a perfect for someone who wants to try underground ”living“
The kitchen is nice and fridge has plenty of room for everyone "

Desert Cave Hotel
6/10 Okay
"The idea of staying an underground hotel was exciting & the accommodation itself was quite basic (comparable to the price). Unfortunately there was a lot lacking, particularly customer service and cleanliness. We arrived mid-afternoon and reception was closed - a note on the door to go to the bar/restaurant to check-in - which we did. The staff member advised that reception was on their break and we would have to wait, no indication of how long and now attempt to check us in... About 30 minutes later we checked in, all OK. We were presented with a document titled 'Hotel Information' and the attendant when through the information on the front page. What was not communicated on the other side of the document was that as an in-house guest we were entitled to a 15% discount on food (we paid full price) & that the room would only be serviced by request (notwithstanding in the bathroom there was a sign saying that linen and towels would be changed every 3 days). We stayed 4 nights, no servicing of the room during this time. Whether you're going green or trying to save a few $$ - understandable in this economy - as a guest I would prefer that a hotel be transparent about what they will or won't provide during a guests stay. Overall hotel is in a great location, quite tired, common areas not cleaned regularly and the service needs significant adjustment. Just a pity because a stay underground is something quite unique."

Oasis Motor Inn Blackall
10/10 Excellent
"Great place to stay on your travels out west. Lovely mamagers and really surprising great restaurant. Definitely recommend to other travellers. "

Opal Inn Hotel Motel
8/10 Good
"Staff is really great, they assisted me really well and empathize the request I made. Especially the tall guy at the reception.
However, just want to highlight, it was mentioned in the ad, rooms are soundproofed and sunlight blocked but my room wasn’t.
Thanks"
