"Great hotel! Lots of food options, clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a good value. Feels more international and Costa Rican than other big brands. We enjoyed Barcelo very much. Nice pool with poolside restaurant and bar. Beautiful setting. My wife and I stayed on both the front end and back end of our trip to Costa Rica. We will stay again on our next trip to San Jose."

"each room has a mini split air conditioner in the room. Our 20 + year old air conditioner did Not work We informed the front desk multiple times to no avail. We had to open our room windows to a common exterior hallway to help reduce the temperature People were walking down the exterior stairs and next to our room ALL night each night. No compensation was offered for the torturous conditions. "

"The breakfast was cold and not appealing. I loved the coffee and fruit. The bread and jam was also very good. We lunch menu was a little better. However, we bumped into an excellent Italian restaurant just steps from the casino. "

"Hotel is OK, but the room is super dated, dirty, old mattress, no electrical outlet in the night table, not tv in the room. Living with very small TV and dinner chairs to watch TV. A full rip off of money."

"We loved the view from our room of the spectacular garden. The neighbourhood featured an array of lovely restaurants and cafes. The garden was a serene, lovely spot to sit and watch the turtles sunbathe!!"

" Pro: The hotel staff was very accommodating. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. The dining lead (Carlos) was very engaging, attentive, personable and catered to your needs. Cons: The shower was less than ideal. They use a water restrictive shower head (low flow). Because the system is using a hot water demand system the low water flow does not allow the temperature to regulate as it should, therefore it is cold then hot than cold again. The shower floor does NOT have a non-slip rubber mat. This makes for a very dangerous situation of a potential slip and fall. No fun. Ventajas: El personal del hotel fue muy atento. Desventajas: La ducha no era ideal. Usan un cabezal con restricción de agua (bajo caudal). Debido a que el sistema utiliza un sistema de demanda de agua caliente, el bajo caudal no permite que la temperatura se regule como debería, por lo que sale fría, luego caliente y luego fría. El suelo de la ducha no tiene alfombrilla de goma antideslizante. Esto crea una situación muy peligrosa de resbalón y caída. Nada divertido. "
