La Batería Park is a beautifully designed park in southern Torremolinos. Amble across 18 acres (7 hectares) of grassy lawns and shaded paths for a relaxing break beneath the Andalucían sun. A boating lake and children’s play area add to the fun of the destination.
Stand at the roundabout at the entrance to the park, where a plaque commemorates its opening in July 2007. The park is named after its collection of artillery weapons, which date back to the 1930s.
Wander around La Batería on the wide, clean trails that wind throughout the park. The paths lead to two stunning, classically styled fountains and a wrought iron greenhouse. Stroll past lawns lined with a wide variety of trees, including Bismarck palms.
Visit the early 20th-century batteries that gave the park its name. Accompanying display boards offer information on the historic weapons.
Splash about on the man-made lake in the center of the park. For a small fee rent a rowboat and drift gently over the clear blue pond. Circle the lake’s central fountain, which depicts horses leaping out of the water.
Bring a bike to Torremolinos and cycle around the park. The well-kept roads are smooth and open, making this a pleasant and easy place for a bike ride. Leave your bike at Torre Mirador, the white stone tower at the southern tip of the park, and climb it for views of the town and the Mediterranean.
Let the children release their energy in the play area. Take a seat on one of the park benches and enjoy sea views while the kids have fun on the climbing frames and swings.
La Batería Park is located south of the town center in Torremolinos. Walk here in a leisurely 25 minutes from the train station or hop on a train to Montemar Alto, which is next to the park. On-site parking is available and entrance to the park is free.
