  • Last night we went to a Taoist Temple in Taipei. You can see in the close up picture of people praying how they receive and answer immediately from the prayers. After kneeling and bowing, you throw two "stones" onto the floor. They are both crescent shaped with a sun and a moon side. If they end up both on one side, the answer is NO. If they end up both on the other side, the answer is maybe, or not enough information. If the end up like a ying and a yang, then the answer is YES. I took a moment to pray, asked my question and got a ying and a yang out of the throw. The belief is, that the result comes from within your own heart.

We have been staying in Landis (used to be called the Ritz) since 40 years ago. We like its location because it nears to our business activities. The staffs are courteous. Food in cafe and Chinese restaurant used to be very good. However, we noticed the followings: (1) Hand soap size in the bathroom is 2”x1/4”. The staff told us it will be extra charge when we asked to have an additional hand soap. (2) Face towel (wash rag) is not provided unless the guests request for it. (3) Drinking water in the cafe or restaurant is charged because they give you the bottle water. (4) Food quality at Breakfast buffet is not as good as the past. (5) Gym is on the top floor without elevator that is not friendly to elderly people to go up two stairs well. (6) Its almost impossible to ask for the late check out from Landis. We believe that Landis can do better as a Five Stars Hotel.

The Landis hotel is a reasonably priced upscale hotel with comfortable rooms located in a for Taipei fairly quiet area, easily reachable by MRT.
