Business trip

We loved this hotel! It was the bright spot in our trip. Our view was amazing and the staff was super helpful. We has many options for food all within walking distance. Our conference was about 20 minutes away and it was very easy to pop into the highway from here. The breakfast is good and well maintained. The parking spots are tiny so be aware of that. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for business

I was on business travel for a week. Hotel was directly on water with direct access to paved walking paths along the Pugit Sound. Great if your traveling for business and want to stay active! Close to a great brew pub (The Ram) and other restaurants that appeared nice and busy. Only downside is it is far from many tourist hot spots. The other time I stayed out here was for business, I worked in Tacoma and stayed in Seattle (Pike Market) - commuting was a lot nicer this time around.

loved my stay

Best hotel ive stayed in tacoma so far..loved the water view, the complimentary breakfast was delicious..the staff were courteous and very friendly! I had a terrible new years and a little bit of a hard time booking for my stay but they went out of their way to accommodate me the best way possible and i truly appreciate everyone and everything the staff did for me!! Thanks SILVER CLOUD INN!!

Great location, amenities a little outdated

We stayed here again, for a holiday family visit. The location is convenient and scenic. Staff was friendly and the room comfortable. Wifi was more reliable this time, though logging in repeatedly over 24 hours was a little annoying -as was the bizarre aspect ratio setting on the room's flat-screen television. HVAC was very noisy.

Silver Cloud Inn in Tacoma is consistently clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The location on the water right near Old Town could not be better. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The "extras" that make the hotel unique are the laundry room, early evening get together and the shuttle service to close by locations . This is my first choice for accommodations in the area.

Loved the hotel but our room was 302 and there was only one elevator and it was at the other end of hotel. Had to walk from lobby -1st floor all way to end of hotel and our room above lobby 3rd floor. We were there for our wedding night and we found love later in life our ages were 66 and 79. Probably should have asked for room by elevator - but did not know one elevator. We walked up and down stairs. Trains all night going and blowing.- we were so close to street. One good thing breakfast was adequate. Tide came up later so we did have water view late. Pretty view also .

Loved the location. Hate the parking

I hate to complain about something that seems so small but trying to navigate my car in between two concrete posts was hectic and stress inducing. Everything else was lovely.

Nice Place

My only issue was the parking. They have this weird structure that makes it so that when you pull into the two car stall, you are millimeters from the concrete posts. It was just uncomfortable. Not so much as to not stay there, but weird.

Great view, friendly staff

I love it there. Wish it served drinks in the nice room downstairs ... But you can bring your own bottle of wine and enjoy it, at least. Prettiest place to stay if you have to be in Tacoma.

Great local getaway

We live nearby and have past this inn many times on our way to the many waterfront restaurants nearby. We were finally able to get a quick night away and the choice was obvious. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness ( we have seen all the Hotel Impossilbles). Our room had a great view and the fireplace set a romantic atmosphere. There are several great waterfront eateries for every taste very nearby. Watched a great sunset and enjoyed a great romantic evening. Breakfast was moderate--90% pastries.

Nice weekend at Silver Cloud Tacoma Waterfront

We spent three nights at the Silver Cloud on the Tacoma Waterfront when we came into town last weekend for a family funeral. This is a lovely location on Tacoma's waterfront, with restaurants within walking distance. We had a "Waterview King" room, with a lovely view out to Tacoma's harbor. The train tracks across the street are well used, but they were only heard softly from our room location. The breakfast was provided in a classy dining area with views of the water, and included eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, cereal, etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will plan to stay here again in the future.

Great place to stay!

When we visit Tacoma we always stay here. It is over the water, close to some very good restaurants that are within walking distance from the Inn, and easy to find with a Garmin or similar direction device.

Pleasant waterfront stay

Silver Cloud Inn in Tacoma was a pleasant surprise and exceeded our expectations. Room was kept exceptionally clean, staff was very friendly and courteous, only minus was the lack of a pool, (my 6 yr old didn't like that). Sitting on the Tacoma waterfront, this charming hotel served our needs just fine. Quaint room (suite) with a nice sitting room overlooking the bay and the waterfront. Fireplace in the room was a nice feature, although the weather was so perfect, we hardly needed it! Hot breakfast in the morning was nice. Recommend this spot for the upcoming 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Lots of construction along the waterfront will add more shops and restaurants and should be ready by the time the Open arrives. Plenty of dining opportunities along the waterfront if you choose not to go into Tacoma downtown or Seattle. Short drive to Gig Harbor and about 75 mins to Bainbridge Island which is a treat if you have never been. All in all a great trip. Highly recommend this hotel.

We liked this place!

This hotel is on a pier on the water - a lovely location. The layout reminds me of the Edgewater in Seattle. It's not super fancy, but very comfortable. The rooms are big and airy, with views of the water. The only downside is the HVAC system is pretty noisy.
