When we arrived, I panicked and didn't want to get out of the car. But so many New Jersey hotels are pressed into use as temporary housing, you are likely to see people congregated around the buildings.
Inside, there is complimentary coffee and lemon water, which is nice, and the staff acts like it's a normal, quality hotel. But it's old and worn. It's shoved in a lot with a Fairfield Inn, on a curve of industrial highway. I rationalized that fewer criminals might enter because it's so narrow and awkward.
The room was spacious, with good lighting. But everything was a little grimy: weird specks on lampshades, smears on headboards, clearly not thorough cleaning. But they vacuum the halls every day, with machines that shriek, rumble, or roar. There is hallway noise at all hours, unattended children crying, and possibly music all day from some other room.
The sink stopper didn't work, the sink leaked under the counter, and the toilet kept threatening to not flush. The refrigerator seal was not functional, so it didn't work well, zero freezing. Old appliances are okay (the ancient microwave worked great), but only if functional. We left behind toiletries and they didn't notify us or keep it. We have no idea how breakfast is, because it ENDS at 9am. I guess it's a way to cut costs.
No bugs, mice, or mold, at least nothing noticed in one multiple-day stay in one room. Sometimes if the price is right, that's the best you can hope for at this price point in NJ.
