Disliked: Amenities
Convenient location, closed to eating places. However, the name of the hotel is different from what we booked. Most of the customer wasted lots of time looking for this hotel though they have arrived st the right places. No window in the room means no natural light and poor ventilation.
Zen Rooms is a travel agency and they must book out rooms within the Porcelain Hotel as that is where my booking was. The rooms are small but perfect for solo travellers. I'd say unless you are a couple on a budget don't go for the cheapest double bedroom. In my room the bed is built into the space with no room to get in either side you have to climb in from the end of the bed. Not an issue for a solo person, but could disturb your partner if you need to get up in the middle of the night. The bathroom is very modern and new, absolutely fabulous! You get given toiletries also, so that's a nice touch. There's a handy fridge and huge TV. The bathroom is a frosted glass panel to the bedroom, one the bathroom light is turned on it illuminates the whole room. Again, fine for a solo traveller, but could disturb a sleeping partner. The staff are friendly, the reception is immaculate and you can buy discounted tickets for all the top sites. There is a Fair Price supermarket and Chinatown MTR station, both one block away. Situated in the most amazing location, Chinatown. There's a hotel at the other end of the street that does a great happy hour and has live music. Lots of eateries in the vicinity too. Bag storage and late checkout are available.
I dont know why this is different hotel, becouse its Porcelain hotel and reception etc is the same in no matter which one you book.
But very nice location
Clean pretty rooms, but VERY small ones.
The hotel is conveniently located in China Town. MRT is only 5 minutes walk away, easy to get to other places. The reception kindly upgraded us to Superior Double Room. The room is small and basic. Good for 1 night / stopover stay.
My 5-month pregnant wife and I stayed 8 nights here on holiday as we visited friends and toured around Singapore. To clarify, for those who may not have figured it out, this Zen Rooms accommodation is actually in the Porcelain Hotel, a fairly recently refurbished hotel in the heart of Chinatown, and only one block from the Chinatown MRT station, and only a 10-15 min walk to the Riverfront area. The location was perfect for our needs and purposes.
This necessarily isn't a hotel in which you want to hang out at all day, as there is not much of a lobby space for casual relaxation. Luckily, when we checked in, the hotel did upgrade our room for free, so we did have a bit more space than what we were expecting; but this is Asia--count on the rooms being on the smaller side.
All in all, I highly recommend this hotel; a great value.
Spent an hour in the heat walking the streets to find this hotel. There is nothing to say that the Zen apartments/Hotel are here. It is signed as "The Porcelain Hotel". The street numbers do not work in the usual way of odds one side evens the other, they are consecutive, so hopefully armed with this information you will be able to find the place. I was almost at the point of booking another hotel when I accidentally found where the Zen apartments were that I had booked with Expedia. The room was comfortable but small in the extreme. This hotel makes the rooms of Hong Kong seem spacious, even my boat is bigger!
The room was tiny!! The location is fantastic and the hotel looks posh from the outside. But inside the room is literally a bed and a wet room. It’s good for a couple days and as a single traveller but for two people it’s a bit claustrophobic especially as there are no windows. It was clean, there were tea/coffee making facilities and a tv.
Do not book the basic rooms. They are way too small and have a glass window for the toilet which is a very strange design choice. We upgraded our room which was much more expensive than if we had done it before. Area is ok. Hotel needs a refresh and a deep clean.
