Overall, we had a great experience and would return next year. Casa of Essence is a charming, family owned and operated property with a lot of character. The space is decorated with antiques and classic pieces, and each room or suite has its own unique design, which we really appreciated. Our room had a bohemian feel and included a comfortable trundle. The queen mattress was firm and the linens were spotless and clean.
It is an older building with some modern improvements still in progress, which is understandable and did not take away from our comfort. We did encounter a minor issue during our stay, but it was handled promptly and professionally. We also noticed dead roaches, which we understood to be a sign of recent fumigation.
The host was kind, welcoming, and very responsive, especially when answering our questions about the area. The location is excellent, particularly during La Sanse. Plaza de Colón is right outside, yet we had no noise issues at all, which was impressive given how lively the area can be. Calle San Francisco isnear great restaurants (easy access to food and beverages, vendors, the Haitian Gallery and the Maritime Museum, footsteps away from El Morro, and safe walking distance from the Marina and La Perla.
We are only deducting one star due to the minor issues mentioned, though the room itself was very clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. Overall, everything was beautiful, and Casa of Essence offers a unique, well-located, and memorable stay.
